Intel Smart Vending Platform

We received an e-mail from USG that they are partnering with the International Vending Alliance to develop a new vending platform for non-DEX machines that would allow them to upgrade to be able to use telemetry and cashless. The core of this project is an Intel computer specifically designed to drive any vending machine. The Intel box replaces the existing VMC and is designed to plug &splay with all peripherals, including 110V mech and validators. The box also includes a 3GSM that will transmit DEX stream via VDI standards to you vend management system. It is looking like 2nd art 2016 before it becomes available. Development has been done for many Eurpean model machines and is being used as OEM on some global equipment. It looks like pricing will be under $300/unit.

Have any of you seen any of this or heard of it.

Haven't seen this yet but there is a similar setup for single price machines made by a Canadian company, eh. I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't make it across the pond but if it does it could really open up the card reader market - if the current players don't write their software to exclude it. It could certainly fix the dex issue with early dex machines but if this requires a new logic board in every machine I doubt it would be universal, and if not universal it will certainly still exclude legacy equipment.
