brendio
I have a Crane National 765H chilled snack machine. It is accepting money and vending properly, but as of around 3 weeks ago, DEX reading from Nayax remote monitoring have been failing/timing out. I have tried swapping the Nayax box over (which generally fixes this problem for other machines), but to no avail. The Nayax unit I removed successfully reads the dex from an AMS in my shed. I have tried the RAM clear procedure as suggested by Nayax, and the local Crane distributor said I have tried everything he would have tried (e.g. tested the dex lead for continuity/shorting). Short of buying a new control board, for which I have been quoted roughly $500, I don't know what to do. Any ideas?
AZVendor
You may be able to put an updated eprom in with a later software version that could correct this. What version of software is in it now? You can probably see that when the machine first powers up or from a label on the logic board eprom. Did you ask Crane about a later version number? brendio
I took a photo of the board while I was at the machine, just in case of questions like these The chip next to the RAM chip has a label 1676020 ver158.21 © CMS 2003. Crane did not suggest updating the EPROM.
AZVendor
There is a newer version that I can send you. You can email me your shipping information and I can send one to you. My email is rbepic4gatgmaildotcom.
brendio
There is a newer version that I can send you. You can email me your shipping information and I can send one to you. My email is rbepic4gatgmaildotcom. I emailed you, but while tinkering in the shed tonight I came across a bag amongst spare parts I got when I bought the run which has a chip with ver 158.28 on it. Would that be interchangeable with the current one? If so, I shall give it a try when next I visit the machine to service it.
AZVendor
That is the same version I have so it's the eprom you should try.
brendio
To change the EPROM, is it just a matter of pulling out the old one and putting in the new one? Will prices and settings need to be reprogrammed?
AZVendor
After you do the eprom change you'll need to do a ram clear and then reprogram your prices.

lacanteen
If you can force your Nayax box to DEX, put the machine in DEX mode by pressing <F2> on the service keypad. The display on the machine will say "DEX in Progress" if it is in fact in progress. My money is on the DEX cord. Even though they ohm out doesn't mean a good connection is being made where it counts. brendio
I swapped out the DEX cord to no avail. I also tried EPROM ver 158.28, and it still didn't DEX. It wasn't communicating with the coin mech either, so I swapped back, although in hind I may not have set it up right after the RAM clear. I have a question regarding swapping the board out. Can I swap a board out of a different model from the same era? I have a drink/snack combo with a broken fridge deck that looks like it has the same control board. Under machine options though, I don't seem to be able to change the machine model type. Is this detected automatically or is there a different service menu/code to change this if I swap the boards over?
AZVendor
If they are in fact the same exact logic board then you will need to swap the eprom if the replacement board doesn't have the option to go all snacks. You will have to do another ram clear after changing the eprom.
brendio
Okay, I tried the logic board from the snack/drink machine. Didn't change the eprom, but did the RAM clear and it recognised it was now in a snack only machine. DEX still timed out, so swapped back. I'm running out of things to try.
