rafael818
i bought a route from someone to add to my own. the only problem I had now that I took over is the previous owners pricing on his beverages.im in California just to add. his prices he has for 12oz are 0.75 on all his sodas. his bottles he has them at 1.25 20oz. Im going to bump up the prices little higher example sodas minimum 0.85-1.00 whats the best way I can do this? I was just going to do it without saying anything to the accounts . if they complained I would just tell them we cant put those type of prices anymore. anyone know of a good way to do it without the accounts getting angry or even them telling me I cant . *Admin note: Deleted the duplicate posts
AZVendor
You need to be careful with this since you just took over the locations. You will need to speak to the account contacts and explain why you need to do this and then put a letter on your machines for your customers to see why and when this will take place. Give them a couple of weeks notice before you do it just to be professional about it. If you just blindly start raising prices you will jeopardize your accounts. Anacapa Vending
I would wait 6 months minimum. Build a relationships with your point of contact at each location first.
brendio
It's a tricky situation. I have almost lost an account putting up prices without notification (so learnt that lesson), and have lost accounts putting up prices with notification. Some were just not able to be saved and I needed to make the business decision that I could not continue to operate at the low prices and was prepared to lose the (smallish) account over it. Previous vendor had got slack with keeping prices up and accounts get used to cheap prices. I make sure to start me new accounts off at a higher price bracket so as to buy some time before needing to raise them. My dilemma when I raised prices was do I raise them in one big jump to where I want them to be, or do a series of small rises every 6 to 12 months to get there? RJT
The bigger question is what is the current price averages for your area? What is the competition charging?
