Thoughts on "flipping" location

Recommended Posts

I have an opportunity to place a couple machines at a location with 45 full time employees, 5-10 additional volunteers, and about 150 other guests a day (retail shoppers, people dropping off donations). The location currently has a 4 select pop machine. They pull 65 bucks from it a month.

It's in an strong middle class area.

Has anyone had anything like this where the profit jumps when you put in your own machines which are better than what they currently have? 65 bucks seems low for those numbers. Normally with that amount of people I would put in a DN 501e live display and a 5 wide AP with credit card readers but I'm leaning towards passing on the account at this point. Any thoughts?

Sorry for the double post, dropped my phone and when I picked it up I hit create, I'm currently trying to delete the unfinished one.

Those numbers might be worth trying but not with premium equipment like that.  If that's all you have right now then be prepared to downsize them if the sales don't support real nice machines.  You'll certainly increase sales over a 4 select machine (can't even think what that might be) but until you do it you can't predict how it will do.  Some of the donation/retail places here do well and some only do okay.

I would imagine sales would increase over the equipment that is there now but I wouldn't expect huge numbers. If it is a Goodwill type of place, we had a snack in the one here at one point and sales were very poor... Just my experience

I'm not sure what the machine is, he said it was one they pulled out of an office building they were cleaning out. It's county headquarters for a resale/community service organization. I have a pop machine in one of their retail stores right around the corner from another location of mine and it pulls in about 100 a month. I don't mind the 100 because it's maybe a minute out of my way and I only need to stop in every couple weeks. Maybe I'll search craigslist for some different machines and put this DN and AP somewhere else. Thank you guys! I appreciate the feedback!

$65 per week is the low end of acceptable. If you have a machine available that is otherwise idle, it might be worth a try. You'll have your answer in 30 days.

He said $65.00 a month.

Sorry, but it is a pass for me.
