Possible Route Purchase

Hey guys and gals,

I have another route that is for sale that I am looking at purchasing and since all of you are so kind I know you will give me feed back. I have been in email contact with the gentleman. The details are as follows.

-Owner is selling due to lack of time to service the route.

- 15 charity locations that have been on site for about 5 years.

-The asking Price is $3500 for the route. ($233.73 per location)

-The machines are 2 8 head racks and 13 doubtle/triple head machines. Hasn't disclosed the makes of the machines.

-The route has done 3335.73 in gross profit in the past 12 months and it is serviced every 2 months.

The route vends Gumballs, Bouncy Balls, 1" Toys, 2" Toys, Skittles, P Nut M&M's, and Mike & Ikea.

First off the price seems high for the route so what would be a reasonable price based on the information given? The gentleman doesn't want to give up too much information on locations until there is an agreement in place (which makes me fishy). Is that normal to do? Any other input on or opinions will gladly be appreciated for everyone.

Thanks for the time.

Are you in northern ohio/southern Michigan area? That sounds like an ad I saw for that area. I thought it was way too high myself. There are a lot of different ways people value routes, so it's going to depend on what you're comfortable with.

If this is the same ad I saw, there is not a lot of high quality equipment there. There were a few northwestern and oaks, but alot of the cheaper, unreliable equipment(LYPC, etc.)

I definitely wouldn't come close to his asking price. He sounds like he could be a car salesman with how he's worded the ad lol.

I just saw the second part of your post. I've purchased 2 established routes so far. One took me to every location, we went inside and looked over the machine, then went to the next. At the end, he asked if I was still interested and we got a deal done. The other, I didn't get exact locations until we had agreed on everything. He did have pages of tracking for each location. I think it just depends on the seller.

Yeah the route is for northern Ohio and southeastern Michigan. The price of the route did seem high which is why  I came to here to get a second opinion. The guy has seemed straight forward in the emails but I don't want to agree to purchase the route before I have seen the machines and the locations to get a good idea of what I think its worth. Is it even worth my time? If I come back with an offer that's almost half of what he is asking I'm afraid ill get told to take a hike and I don't want to waste the guy time and then offer him half.
