Location asking to provide refrigerator ?

Recommended Posts

Isn't it just grand what locations think they can demand from their vendor?  Most locations are smart enough to realize that it's better for them to supply that so that if they kick you out they still have a refrigerator.  You should tell them that you'll find them one to buy but that there's no profit in you providing one.  You, or they, should be able to find a cheaper one locally with some looking on craigslist.

The problem is these morons think they can ask anything while giving them the best service at lowest prices. How are we supposed to do business like this.

Is it normal for these bozos to ask these demands.

Utensils really?

Some will try to get everything out of you they can. It's not uncommon to have to provide microwaves if you have food machines, but some want you to provide the whole break room...even tables and chairs.

You best bet would be to contact your bottler and see if you can get a cooler from them ( assuming you are already a third party vendor). They don't give them out as easily as drink machines, but we have gotten coolers from ours. It's worth a shot

I am just setting my account with coke, she was saying it will take time to establish account before they can give vending machine so forget about coolers.

There are three potential accounts I am talking to all of them have both the coke and Pepsi machines. Coke all three are bevmax and all are vending wide variety from 8 Oz cans to 20 oz bottles.

Till now I have been buying from SAMs and Costco as coke did not want to deliver to my house.I have bought all machines but these bevmax machines are very pricey and it would make much business sense if I get that from Bottlers.

I have to wait and see how it goes with my coke rep tomorrow.

Yeah it can take some time to prove your buying power with some bottlers

Is this location worth having to put a cooler in? It can be a pain but unfortunately some of the big locations know they can pull your strings if they know you really want their business.

I get more sick of locations that want to threaten me with "we'll have to start calling around if you raise the prices" thing. We're talking about already-low prices. Their reasoning is that their employees don't make enough, but I let them know that I don't make enough either.

True story, I had a location say they would start looking elsewhere when I informed them that I would need to raise candy from $.80 - $.85 a few years ago. They said the prices were already "too high." I cancelled them probably 6 months later because I needed the equipment. They never found anyone who would go cheaper.

I had a location awhile back that wanted everything. 12 microwaves (for 75 employees), condiment stands, condiments, napkins, coolers and water coolers. Asked me to lower the prices and clean the microwaves daily. Guess what my response was? I still flip them off every time I drive by there.

You have to know the value of what you provide and not let the customer eliminate your profit.  Customers will not value your service if you don't value it yourself.  Servicing an account that makes no profit is not why you are in business.  So who would maintain this fridge?  If it stopped cooling would that be your problem also??  And what would be their next demand?  Someone who undercuts you to get an account like this probably won't stay in business very long anyway....
