QuikVend
I just picked up a new account today and planned on using the royal 650 I have sitting in the garage. I stole the coin mech from it to get a machine on location up and running, but now I need another ASAP.
lacanteen
Consider this constructive criticism: If you are going to survive in this business you need spare changers and bill acceptors. These payment systems fail often. Do you drive your car with no spare tire? I see you are in Ohio. Call VE, D&S, or Shaffer first thing Tuesday. If this was non-MDB I would sell you some cheap and give you a spare, but I don't have excess MDB to sell or give away.

Yep, I always carry two spares of each - one pair Mdb validator w/coin mech and one pair of non Mdb validator w.coin mech. This system has saved me many hours over the years and it looks better to your accounts when you're prepared to fix something on the spot. I prefer the Mei 2500 series validators with the Coinco 9300 series coin mechs and since I've standardized my system over the years I always have the correct replacements with me when I need them and don't require any special harnesses since I'm just replacing each unit with the same type in each case. You can set this up for less than $300 but you're going to end up needing these parts anyway so there is really no long term expense to save yourself a lot of extra trips and down time. QuikVend
I appreciate the feedback. I do have about 10 non-MDB. I have 2 MDB that I have to rebuild, just haven't gotten them out yet. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk While you probably can repair the validators yourself, in the long run you'll find it more cost effective to just trade them in to a pro refurbisher - they have all the parts and do them assembly line style so they can do them pretty fast and probably a lot cheaper than you can considering your time invested. QuikVend
Yea, that's what I meant. I'm not in the refurb business, I'd rather have someone else do it lo Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

I think I need a 9300l or similar for a vendo I have. Do you have an extra of these things or something similar? rmorris1953
I have a client who sends in his coinage for repair and when it comes back he goes out and installs it. Then he takes the old one and carries it for a spare. That way he always knows he has a good spare. Also, why would you let the warranty expire on the shelf only to find it didn't work in the first place. Takes a little more time but it pays off in the end. These repairs centers get sloppy at times and the reason being very few people will take the time to describe the problem they are having with coin mech or the validator. So all it gets is a cleaning and maybe retuning. These repair centers get mechs and validators that don't need anything but cleaned at a 50-75% ratio. IMO always request your parts back not exchanged and always give a detailed description of the problem that way you don't end up with someone else's problem. SCOTT1963
MORRISS1953 " Also, why would you let the warranty expire on the shelf only to find it didn't work in the first place." Good advice MORRISS1953 "These repair centers get mechs and validators that don't need anything but cleaned at a 50-75% ratio. IMO always request your parts back not exchanged and always give a detailed description of the problem that way you don't end up with someone else's problem" I would say it is closer to 30 percent on coin mechs from experience. But good advice on informing what the issue is, intermittent problems can't be repaired unless they are known. If you have to ask for your broken parts back, you may want to change repair centers
