Chard
I have a Dixie 276e with a MEI 2515 validator that is upgraded to take $5 bills. Lately, the machine is occassionally very slow to display credit for bills inserted. It can take up to one or two minutes before the bill credit is accually displayed. In fact, I am frequently able to open the machine up before the credit is displayed. I've tried changing the bill stacker setting, made sure the coin tubes were filled, etc. I have no idea what is wrong. This is a random problem, however, I am sometimes able to get it to reproduce the problem. Is the validator just bad? If I did send it in what would I tell the repair shop if I sent it in since it seems to be random? I don't want them to overlook the issue and send it back with the same problems. AngryChris
Do you mean a 2512? Regardless, I would swap it with another validator to see if the problem goes away. At least try to find out if it's the validator or not.

Chard
I replaced the bill acceptor and card reader bezel on this machine several weeks ago. Today when I went to service the location an employee told me he had swiped his card only to have the machine not show the credit for about 5 minutes and then he was charged twice on the card. At this point, I believe the board is flaky instead of the validator. It's a really strange problem. I've never seen anything like it. I'm going to replace the board. lacanteen
It might just be the EPROM on the board. Must be 381.10 or higher. I make 381.41 versions and sell for $5 each
