I had done it to another one but needed a generator. Isnt there something that can run through the factory ac? I was thinking since i have a gmc 3500 maybe i could find the oem rear ac system from a passenger van?

I doubt a vehicle air conditioner would ever drop the teml of the box more than 5 degrees. That's just too much volume. You almost certainly need an inverter if not a generator but a generator will run on its own, an inverter rubs off of your engine. Either way, you're gonna spend money. AZVendor
You can use a ThermoKing V520 or a Carrier 40X. The companies I used in years past don't seem to be around any longer.
TKK
An inverter wont work ive tried before its too much juice or you need a ton of batteries which drain fast
AZVendor
I just remembered the two units I used on my Isuzu 14' bodies. One was TempCon which is gone now but the other, ATC - Advanced Temperature Control, is still in business. It, like the ThermoKing and Carrier units, run off of a compressor on your engine. The ATC used the normal cab a/c compressor or you could add a second compressor. The problem with a second compressor is in how difficult it is to mount it and run a belt to it that will stay on. We ran diesels that ran all day long so the cab would be cool when we got back in it and the box stayed cool.
