Equipment in Malls

I do. Smaller regional malls- we're talking facilities that have 2 anchors, and maybe 20 stores between them. I usually leave my odds and ends there. My "local" mall account is very flexible in terms of space- I've got designated spaces, and so long as the gear stays within that space and the cash rolls in, they don't seem to mind.

Another one I've got is a little pickier about presentation, but otherwise is still pretty flexible in terms of what they allow.

The one "big" mall I approached stated they were under contract, and could not allow other vendors. They were outside my main area though, so I didn't pursue them any further.

I've often wonderd about malls. Is there a manger of the whole mall? Or who do you talk to about putting in equipment?

Most large malls are owned by a larger corporate entity, so most of those have contracts through bigger operators or national services.

Smaller malls (like the ones I deal with) have between 3-5 employees, mostly part-time. There's an Administrator, usually a sales/marketing guy, and a smattering of janitorial/maintenance guys. The admin makes most decisions for the mall- very rarely consulting the "owner" if it's something that needs to be physically installed. It varies from admin to admin though. Call first, and they'll be able to tell you what their terms are, or if they have a contract, saving you a trip.

Ok thanks. I'm not sure i've seen smaller malls around here. But there is an outlet center (it's quite huge) that seems to be broken up into sections. I have a machine in a break room of a store there, but as I wander around I see huge stretches of just nothingness and can't help but think any vending machine would do great as people walk between stores. I guess I just gotta make some calls and see. :)

Probably similar to what we've got here. If it's sheltered from the elements, I'd think you'd be golden for bulk. Never hurts to call and find out! ^_^
