SmithBay
Machine: Dixie Narco 501T Problem location: Column 2 (wide column) Product type: cans Last night I was going through and vending all of my flavors to make sure they're all working properly. I put $0.75 in, selected Dr Pepper, and it vended. I put $0.75 (all quarters) in again and as soon as my last quarter dropped, another Dr Pepper fell. I didn't even select anything. Why did it do that?
lacanteen
Either the motor coasted to where both switches are in the notch instead of just one, or the selection switch stuck.
AZVendor
Bad brake on the motor or gummed up motor switches.
SmithBay
OK can you all explain where these parts are located, how to check them, and give me a rough idea what each part cost to replace?

lacanteen
OK can you all explain where these parts are located, how to check them, and give me a rough idea what each part cost to replace? Behind the motor cover, which is just below where you load the cans. Here's a thread with pictures. The arrows point to the brake which is spring loaded and should move freely. http://vendiscuss.net/index.php?/topic/26791-dn-501-e-jammed-column/#entry230540 The selection switch is behind the button you push. Make sure the button isn't stuck.

I finally figured out that this is exactly what's happening. When both switches are in the notch, then the next time your put money in, the motor automatically rotates without selection being made. The disc is aligned and matches the other 2 wide columns that are working fine. So I don't think the disc is the problem. So is it the motor or brake? How do I figure that out? How do I fix it? lacanteen
If the brake seems sticky, clean it. I use denatured alcohol in a spray bottle. If the brake is OK then the switch is likely sluggish and should be replaced.
