maestro489
I have validator that every time I come to check it there is a bill stuck in there. It's accepting bills but one is getting stuck all the time. It's a fairly new validator. What is causing this

Magiccity726
If it is happening regularly it most likely is not a damp/wrinkled bill. What are the odds that continuously is happening? It sounds like the validator needs to be cleaned.
maestro489
Well it is a tire shop and the guys there do most of their work outdoors and we are in Atlanta where it has been a hot summer. So it could be damp bills. The validator was actually rebuilt a few months ago. It's a coinco Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Magiccity726
I am in Miami and have a lot of locations that are in hot places like body/tire shops. It is not normal if it is an ongoing problem. Personally, I would swap it out.
AZVendor
It's probably from damp bills. The VN2500 is the best at accepting damp bills.
AngryChris
If it's a coinco billpro (such as a BP2BX) then the problem is typically in the frame or whatever the part is called. If you look where the bills stack, you'll notice a grey plastic perimeter where the plastic is raised slightly. If there are ANY dents in that raised plastic anywhere, the edges of the dollar bills get hung up there and jam up on the first try. The next few bills follow suit. I'm not sure if they changed that in other models or not.My refurbisher grinded those raised plastic edges down until the frame was smooth. EdsVending
Was the refurbisher Coincidence certified? The reason I ask is because I had similar issues and replaced it and it worked better. I would reccommend converting Coinco bill acceptors to MEI - you'll have way less headaches.
VendingDoctor
If it is a MAG50, take a look at the control board. On early boards, Coinco housed the microprocessor in a socket which if became unseated could cause erratic behavior. On later boards Coinco secured the microprocessor directly to the board eliminating the socket and potential problems. To check and see if this could be your problem, remove and open the control board case located on the side of the bill acceptor exposing the control board and.locate the microprocessor. It is the square chip in the middle of the board with the number 67126-xx engraved in it. If it is sitting in a socket this could be your problem. Simply place your thumb on the center of the microprocessor and push down on it.. If it makes a slight snap sound, you just seated the chip. If it does not make this snapping sound, you may want to remove and re-install it...this will assure all contacts are making better connections. This is accomplished by using a chip puller obtainable from Radio Shack or any electronics store. The tool lifts the microprocessor up evenly from opposite corners removing it from the socket. Once you remove the chip, you want to line it back up properly with the socket and when lined up, push it down evenly into the socket. You should hear and feel it snap into place. Once you accomplish this, you are now ready to test it. It is true Coinco BA and MAG Series Bill Acceptors can have trouble accepting wet bills. Mars Electronics (Mei) now owned by Crane National Vendors going under the name of Crane Payment Innovations (Cpi) is in my estimation one of the best bill acceptors on the market today. Because of it's track design and utilizing all optics in deciphering the currency, It has the ability to accept wet bills better than others.
