Dixie/ A.P. Questions

Hey guys, is it difficult to remove a door from a Dixie Narco 501E? It doesn't look hard but I tried removing a door from a fridge a couple months ago and it was way more difficult than I would have guessed. I'm good with tools I'm just worried about starting the project and getting in over my head to fast and damaging the machine. I'm asking because I got a new account and need to move the machine up 5 stairs and am hoping to lighten the machine as much as possible.

Second question, are there kits to replace the keypad on the snackshop 6600/7600? My goal is to make a couple machines look newer and the keypads that are on currently just make it look dated. I put some tuff front kits on the fronts and they look great, but I think having a new keypad would go a long way. Do you guys do anything besides paint to clean up the sides? Has anyone used any kind of vinyl adhesives?

Thank you in advance for your input, I don't know what I'd do without this forum!

You will wish you never moved a machine up stairs.  The difficulty is why it costs a lot to have someone do it with a stair climber.  I never, in 30 plus years, ever took an account that didn't have an elevator or was on the ground floor.

Removing the door isn't horrible but you need a pallet jack to do it.  Disconnect all harnesses between cabinet and door.  Jack up the door just a bit and remove the top hinge (have strong help so the door won't fall).  Jack it up further to clear the lower pivot and DO NOT lose any parts from the pivot.  Make sure no bushings or washers are stuck on the bottom of the door so you don't lose them.  Whatever you do, don't turn the adjuster on the lower pivot.  Reassemble in the reverse order.

There are no updated keypads for the AP6/7K machines unless you put on a VE Revision door.  You can upgrade the logic board and get a new display but it won't include a keypad.  I always painted the sides of my machines black to match the new front.

Thank you Randy! I thought about going the revision door route but didn't think it was worth it. I ordered the UCB w/ drop sensors and tuff front kits and minus the key pad they'll look pretty similar IMO.

Yeah this will be my first stair account. It's a multiple building account and there's one building that has a 5 steps I have to go up. The rest have elevators. Once I get the machines up the steps I'm hoping it's not to difficult because I can back my van up and unload to the top of the steps. There's a railing preventing machine delivery that way.

I always appreciate your help, Randy! Thank you again!

My normal mover shot me down pretty quick. Don't blame him. I got ahold of someone today who's company installs gun safes , fridges and such. Said he'd do it if I'd put a machine in his building! Pretty happy about that one.

Like AZ said, don't lose any washers if your taking the door off and make a ure you know where they go. The hard part is putting the door back on the pin and lining it up on the top. You will need some strong people to help. Stair climber is the way to go.
