thenextpage
Hello friends, thanks for supporting this great forum! I'm considering the vending business as a way to transition out of my full time job. I'm in the DC area so lots of potential I think. Can you direct me to an area in this forum where I can learn about existing vending "business opportunity" companies? These companies sell the machines and provide support in establishing a business. Examples are "Naturals To Go", "Healthier 4U Vending" & "All4U Vending". It'd be helpful to read experiences of others working with these types of companies. Additionally, I'd love to find a section describing different strategies/experiences for entering the vending business. Thank you so much! The Mage
Welcome to the group. We generally take a negative view of Business Opportunity (BizOp) companies. They often overcharge for equipment, give bad advice, and push bad locations on people. The current trend is "healthy" vending. Unfortunately few people really know what healthy is, and you get the "opportunity" to sell things that you could just as easily sell in a less expensive machine. If you have the funds for something like this, I think it would be better spent on an existing route that another vendor has put up for sale. Before buying it, you can run everything through the members here to help advise you on if you are getting a deal or not.
QuikVend
Welcome to the forum! Lots of great info here. You're going to want to check out the food and beverage section. I'd say 90% of the knowledge I've gained about vending I've picked up here through searching and asking questions. As for the biz-ops, overall you'll see a negative opinion of them. Mostly due to the overpriced and unreliable equipment as well as the misleading info they give to prospective buyers. Search for biz op and you'll come across all the info you'll need. Thank you QuickVend, yes I've seen some negative feedback on biz ops since joining and scanning through the forums. I'm interested to find a business section within the forum as well, to help me better understand realistic expectations of sales/margins, so that I can piece together a plan of what I would need to do in order to transition out of my current job into the vending business. Thanks for your feedback! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Mage
Can you reference an area for me to look for sales of an existing route? Well sometimes they pop up here in the classified section, but the newspaper, and Craigslist may have some. I picked up a bulk route from Craigslist a few years back, and later I was looking into a very small snack/beverage one also from Craigslist. The latter was a bad one that I skipped when I found the location was going to be torn down and rebuilt. (Always do your research.) I never did move into beverage/snack myself. I recommend reading up on the forums, and keeping your eyes open. The more you learn, the better deal you will make. (As long as it doesn't turn into analysis paralysis.) Poplady1
Check out NAMA (National Automatic Merchandising Association) they represent all of the vending industry. They are nonprofit and provide free information to help all vendors. They also have a blue sky brochure on their site. There are vendors on this forum that have tried those companies without much if any success. Also you can subscribe free for Automatic Merchandiser. They have lots of good information.
