BlindVending
Is it not possible to accept 10 and 20 dollar bills on this machine? Seems to be only 1 and 5s . I'm in canada so only 5s work. Is there an eprom update?
AZVendor
I doubt it. That's a machine from the late 90s. You'd need to speak with Crane regarding Canadian currency in that model. Either that or you need to get your bill validator flashed for that currency.
Amigo
If you are capable of putting a MDB changer in the machine then a validator that accepts $10 & $20 should work. You need to go into configuration and tell it to accept 10s & $20 You may need to do a Ram clear and reset all the settings. You should be able to get a service manual online from Crane or D&S vending. The firmware on a 170 should allow you to do this without change. The only reason to update firmware is for credit card communication. D&S also has a kit that will connect to micromech plug and allow MDB and 10 & 20 d0llar bills. However, coin mech must be motorized payout. Three tube changers with snap coils will not work correctly as they lose memory if you lose power. You can't tell this machine to accept anything higher than $5's as per the manual and the config on the machine. The machine is already MDB and works with a MEI bill acceptor and MEI coin mech. It just accepts $5's is the problem. Oh well.
Amigo
I have 167,s that allow me to turn on 10 and 20, so I don't know why a 170 wouldn't. On my 167's there are things that have to be set at time of Ram clear or you get locked out. Are you in supervisor mode when you try to tell it your changes?
