chadt74
Hi all I am in the Boston area and had a vending opportunity sort of drop into my lap. At work a co-worker ran three machines USI snack vendor, USI can only vendor and a 3rd USI machine which was broken when I bought the location. I purchased the location and replaced the broken USI with a used Dixie Narco 501e that has a MEI Bill acceptor 2000 installed. So far I have a few of the can columns set up but the 501e machine was set up to vend 16oz Monster drinks and I want to price them at $2.00 (or some price over $1). I know how to update the prices (I have read the manual) but the issue I am coming across is that the bill acceptor only takes dollar bills, when I try and put in coins it will not take them and drop them to the coin return. Also I can only put a single one dollar bill into the bill acceptor, when I try and put in a second it will not budge. I read both the MEI manual and the Dixie Narco manual but other than the 'escrow' section I can't seem to figure out what is wrong. Any help advice would be appreciated. Also when I look at the back of the bill acceptor I do see that the red light flashes twice which means either : Low coin tube levels door switch no activated no product in machine machine out of order wrong bill acceptor configuration It could be #1 since I have no dimes but I added a few quarters and nothing happened. Some of the columns do not have product, but the machine does say flash the 'ice cold soda' so the machine knows there is SOME product to vend. Anyway, hi yes I am new to this but I am looking forward to learning, and I will see you all around the forums.
QuikVend
Sounds like a bad changer possibly. Coins dropping straight through and 2 flashes (which usually means disabled from coin mech) are pointing towards that. Do you have another coin mech to swap in to test? If not, now would be a good time to carry a spate to avoid downtime and lost sales. You could try making sure there are 10 of each coin in the mech first, but that more than likely won't solve your issue. And welcome to the forum! AZVendor
Put dimes in the coin tube and see if that changes anything with the validator. As to the coin acceptance, check that the door's metal coin return lever isn't touching the plastic lever on the coin mech, especially when the inner door closes. If they touch that can disable coin acceptance. If this isn't the case then you need to replace the coin mech. With the coin mech disabled the machine will only accept bills for selections priced at even dollar increments. If you haven't priced anything over $1 yet then that's also why you can only insert one bill. Email me at rbepic4gatgmaildotcom if you need a new coin mech.
