How would you handle this?

I went to service one of my machines and it appears there was something stuck in the keyhole of my bulk machine.  It almost looks like a partial key or something broke off inside.  Its hard to tell as I have now pushed it down a little trying to get it out.   I suspect it was a competing vendor as we are selling something not exactly the same but similar.  I find it funny how this machine in particular was targeted which makes me think it is the competing vendor.  Do you find sometimes that this will happen with a customer base, or if something is stuck in the keyhole is it usually another vendor?  How would you handle this situation?

I don't have any experience although I just moved onto my competitors turf. Not much of a way to handle it is there? You could try and get them kicked out but it could backfire. You could place a call directly to the other vendor. I would probably just fix my lock and wait to see if it happens again .

Not much you can do right now, as you don't really know who did it. You definitely don't want to bring unwanted attention to yourself, as your liable to get everyone kicked. Best bet is to fix it and hope it was a one time thing.

Could have just as easily been some nosy kids or a curious worker at the loc. Take a photo of the machine each time you service, and compare them- if your totals are amiss, or you notice the machine is getting more and more dinged up, then it's time to make some decisions on the loc. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions, nor do anything rash at this point.

I usually don't have much trouble with my bulk vending machines but it never ceases to amaze me what people will do to your equipment. I carry a key extractor in my toolbox in case something is lodged in my locks or I break a key. If you suspect any kind of foul play, change to tubular locks as they are much harder to tamper with. If it gets too aggravating, just pull the location.
