Pop machines in winter.

If you get short bursts of freezing temps that don't go deep the heat generated from the evaporator fan will probably be enough to keep the soda from freezing.  If you get deep freezes then you might need to add a heater to the cabinet to prevent frozen soda.  Some manufacturers have heater options for their machines.

Gets into teens sometimes

Diet Soda will freeze at about 18 degrees provided NO wind chill and the temperature remains 18 or less for hours.  If it only gets into the teens and not very long, you probably won't have many problems since the soda will be slightly warmer inside the machine (if it's on) than outside of it.  We have all four seasons in Ohio.  We regularly get into the lower 90's every Summer (Although it has stayed in high 80's or low-mid 90's the entire Summer which is a hotter Summer than usual).  We get temperatures in the single digits during normal Winters, with the occasional temperatures in the negatives (Even colder with the wind chill factor).  I have seen soda freeze in machines outside but it's actually pretty rare.  I think it would only be an issue for you if you have a LOT of accounts outside and/or the accounts are slow.

30 years I have only seen 1 freeze up outside here in Kansas. South Central. It was chained to a light pole out in the open facing the north. The evaporator fan motor will provide enough heat to keep it from freezing up provided everything else is sealed up good. Many newer vendors have two fan motors. They make heaters with thermostat just for this. Anything we prepped for Nebraska we installed a heater in.
