putrevus
Hi all, Thanks in advance for your help. I have a vendo 721 which has a dollar bill validator and coin changer with quarters . I am vending Monster and red bull there, they are having hard time to get dollars bills. My question is can I swap both validator and coin changer so they can accept five dollars bills and dollars coins. They are using the snack machine as coin changer for now and I am having to go there very often to just load dollar coins into the snack machine. I have installed credit card readers recently on both of them hoping to reduce the change issue. Thanks again for your help.
AZVendor
Turn on switch 6 on the side of the validator so it will accept 5's. If none of your switches are currently turned on then by changing one switch you will have to turn on all switch options you want to use. If your validator still won't take any 5's or the #6 switch is already on then you have to get the validator flashed for newer currency. Your coin mech should already be capable of accepting dollar coins but if you need to have a dollar tube then you either need a 4 or 5 tube mech or your current 4 or 5 tube mech needs a dollar tube installed and then to be programmed for it. Thanks a lot for your help. Any bill validator can be changed to accept five dollars by turning the switch 6 on? The coin mech is four tube with two quarters, one dime and one nickel, one question is can i get a dollar tube and where can I buy it and how can I program it. Can I use coin mech from other machines which has dollar tube for this machine. Or do I need to do any programming ? Thanks again for your help. Southeast Treats
I think he was referring to MEI Mars validators, if you have a different make there will be other programming. If the validator was made before 2008 it may not take the new design $5's unless the software has been updated. There is usually a label added to show the upgrade was done. Any MDB machine should take any MDB changer or validator so if you have to swap out for different units it's no big deal.

Southeast Treats
To be clear, you should not have to upgrade the machine software just the validator if it has not already been done. Not all vavalidator can be upgraded but if it can be a service shop is your best bet. Buying the hardware and software to upgrade just one validator is not cost effective. AngryChris
The VALIDATOR might not be setup for new 2008 bills, not the machine. If it's not updated to 2008 currency, but it has flashport, then you need to send it off to be updated. If it does NOT have flashport, then you can't do anything about it. How about you tell us what kind of validator you have in there. If I were you, I would try to find a refurbished MEI 2702 validator or a Coinco BP2BX (or BP4BX) for under $150.00 if possible. They'll handle 1's, 5's, 10's, and 20's (except for the BP2BX which will only do 1's and 5's). Out of curiosity, are you sure it's a Vendo 721 and not a Vendo 720? Regardless, your validator is what needs to be addressed, not the machine. Also, for $5 acceptance, I recommend getting a 4 or 5-tube coin mech with $1 coin or multiple $0.25 payouts.
