Dixie Narco 100-5 vending issues

Hello, I recently purchased a 5 selection Dixie Narco 100-5. For the first 5-6 weeks everything was working great. Now all of a sudden there are 3 slots that will no longer release cans. When I first noticed this issue there were 2 slots with this problem. After messing around and checking all the connections another one of the slots stopped working.  Here is a run down for each slot starting from thE right and moving to the left if your looking at the machine.

Slot 1:  no issues

Slot 2:  the  selection button does not work, however the vend motor cycles just fine.

Slot 3:  no issues

Slot 4 and 5:  selection button not working and vend motor not working.

I have unloaded all the cans to ensure none of the slots were jammed. I re-trained the coin mech in case that Was in some way causing the problem  I disconnected and reconnected most/all connection to ensure everything was good.  None of this helped.  One last odd thing is that when the entire machine is empty the only sold out light that is lit is for slot 5.

Thanks for everyone's help.  This is my first machine so I am running blind a bit.

Any help you guys could provide would be great

I think you actually have a DN180 not a DN100.  Check all of your selection switches to ensure they are stilled wired up.  You may have loose wires on the connectors.  The wiring diagram is on the inner door.

The tag on the machine states DN100-5.  Attached are some pictures of the machine.  The first two are off the internet showing what my machine looks like and the picture of the tag is from my machine.  I have disconnected all selection switches everywhere (selector buttons, both on/near the vending motors, and even the sold out switches) and reconnected them.  Still nothing is dispensing from slots 2, 4, and 5.  The two switches near the vendor motor can be activated by hand for the three non vending slots and the motor runs and the rods turn just fine.  I have even swapped the switches from one of the working slots to one of the non-working slots and that doesn't fix the problem.  Based upon what I have see and tried, I am thinking there is some wiring issues.  I have not used an ohms meter much, so my experience is slim there.  Is there any testing with that tool that I could do to narrow things down further?

Thanks for everyone's help with this.

From the 1970s for sure. Swap the sold out switch from a working column and see if the problem follows the switch. If not, it's likely the connector at the bottom of the door. Be careful with power on. There's 110VAC everywhere in that machine.

Lacanteen, I have already done the sold out switch change and that didn't fix anything.  What connector at the bottom of the door do you mean?  I assume you are talking about the connectors at the bottom of the cabinet and not the actual door.  Should I just be unplugging everything and reconnecting the ?  Is there a fuse down there at all?

Where the motor stack harness meets the door harness there could be corrosion/tarnish on the pins. Clean with a good spray contact cleaner. If that does not work, you will get very familiar with your ohm meter checking wires from end to end.

Just for my due diligence, there has to be enough cans in the column(s) to press the sold out paddle down.

  • 4 months later...

I just bought a Dixie Narco 100-5 from a guy moving out of a shop.  I have no idea where to start with it. It looks as though the wires from the flavor label are still connected but they have been disconnected at the other end where the drinks dispense.  I'm also wondering if it doesn't need freon.  It runs but not really cold and they must have bypassed the coin mechanism because I do not see it connected to anything.  The money just falls into the tray at the bottom.   Maybe I should scrap it but I wanted to take a crack at it.  Is there a manual to this thing that would help in getting the wiring back together?  Any help is appreciated.
