AP 121C - Does it DEX?

Someone here is selling three machines in hospitals that I am considering buying one or all of. The closest machine and the one of the best site is an AP 121 C. I already have a couple of AP LCMs that have InOne upgrade boards. This machine looks like it has the original board and I couldn't see a DEX plug, so wondering is there a harness or would it also need a board upgrade? I would be looking to add Nayax telemetry and credit card reader if I acquire it.

I just skimmed the manual for it and it appears that a DEX harness is available. Next question is does it play nice with Nayax (or other card readers)? Does anyone have experience with it?

Alright, an update on this thread and a question:

I did end up buying this machine and am now trying to get it to work with Nayax telemetry. I fashioned a DEX harness for it by chopping the 6.5 mm plug end off an old Nayax harness and soldering it to a molex plug I found among my spare parts stash. I compared with another AP harness and got it working the AP Studio in my shed.

I went to the machine on site today, and plugged the harness into the RS232 connector, connect the Nayax box to the MDB harness, fire it up and push the yellow button and it makes the right sounds for sending a DEX. I checked on my phone and only one product was showing in the inventory (I guessed a little at the parameters at home when I made the product map, so I figured that was it.

I'm home now and have had a look at the raw DEX file, and it only shows three product selections (110, 170 and 151). The machine has been operating for some time, so there should be DEX data for all selections. I did notice though that there are lines PA1*CAB1 and PA1*CAB2. Is anyone good at diagnosing faults from raw DEX data? I wonder if it is set up for a slave unit or something? Or the data has been reset or not recording?

Make sure the flash chip is 5.28. This is the smaller of 2 square chips just below the battery. You can get them from D&S Vending

I forgot to check the version while I was at the machine.

Pondering answering my own question, this line appears to indicate the MIS data has been reset, hence why all the values are zeros? Not sure why there are three selections though and not all or none (I have seen on other machines that DEX selections show up after a reset {for change of EPROM} only after a vend, but its not showing vends and there is no selection 170 for there to have been a vend).

Go to the security menu

press<enter>

press right arrow until you see "set product codes-manual"

press "plus' <+>

it should now say "set product codes-auto"

You will now get the right PA fields and you have earned the privilege of purchasing me a beer.

Note 1: you will also see PA info of non-existent selections, but the data will always be zero.

Note 2: with the age of this machine passing 10 years, the batteries are starting to fail and the boards lose data. You can purchase the batteries on line for $16

It took a couple of dex readings before it sorted itself, but it looks like it works. What's your preferred beverage?

It took me a while to work out the product mapping between the selection numbers and the MDB until I worked out the the selection numbers were hexadecimal. Wrote an Excel formula to convert and its looking all good now. Thanks for your help.
