1st Time setup for new machine delivery?

I've delivered and setup alot of ATM machines and would never have put the money in the machine until after it was installed but not sure of the best way to do a bulk candy machine.  Do you guys fill your cannisters on triple heads and  8 select U Turns before taking them into a brand new location?  Need to deliver an 8 select to a restaurant and thinking of getting it all filled and ready at home and then deliver it ready to go.  It's too tall to stand in my van so would have to lay it down and not sure if that would be cool if already filled?  Have searched here and got alot of help on what level to fill but couldn't find anything on this question?

I personally may fill up a single or double, but it would seem that anything triple size or bigger would just be too heavy unless you have a hand truck to move it. Also, if you fill it with product on site, the business will see that you are putting fresh product in it.

Steve, Thanks for the link. I found alot of info on filling machines but couldn't come up with exactly how to do it and when. Actually would much rather do a search than have to ask what is problem dumb questions to most of you guys.

Namm.

I fill my uturn canisters to approx level 5, and we always completely fill all the machines prior to onsite delivery, we havent had a problem yet.

When it comes to balls and toys we usually fill to the top if we have the stock.

Ron,

Thanks for the answer and since you run so many U Turns if I could ask you one more questions. Do you lay the machines down when they are filled and does this present a problem?

Nam,

I fill all the canisters prior to delivery in my van. I lay them down as its the safest and best way to do it.

Only prob laying them down is sometimes the candy runs out of the tumbler which can cause the product not to dispense when the first coin is placed in the mech.

So to alleviate this problem i take the lid off and run a coin through each mech just to ensure its dispensing ok just prior to delivering the machine into the premises.

Nam, this is not necessary all the time, i just had a complaint once that where this happened so i do it now just to ensure theres no potential problem.

Last time it happened it was on the Gold Coast and i had to travel over an hour each way to fix it lol.

I hope this info is of some use to you

Singles, doubles, triples, U Turns and everything else - I find it alot easier to fill it once the machine is there. Plus the people see you filling the machine on site and think the candy is fresh.

I tried filling my triple at home once prior to delivery and the candy went over the divider and mixed.

Now I just always fill it on site.

1. They see me putting fresh product in.

2. A triple is heavy, add 15 additional lbs? not me.

3. I fill half way, the owner sees that also.

4. I always vend a test vend, first time and every month after and if someone is around, I give it to them. That way I know it is vending the proper amount.

I never prefill a machine.  Summer in Houston gets very hot.  Having machines full of product in the trunk of my car will cause them to get a little melty and messy.  In the summer months, I keep my product in an Igloo chest to keep it cool before I use it.

I think for most machines you are better off leaving it empty until you deliver it. Maybe if I had a partial fill on a double that I was relocating then I would leave it if I could place the machine upright off the stand.
