I suggested plain mm and runts but no one agreed.... It's for a restaurant break room and these kids love their sugar highs, maybe I should just switch it up regardless of what they say? I've worked in a place and understand what's it's like to get tired of the same selection, even if you like it... Where do you get pacifiers parrot?

Depending on the age range, skittles tend to do pretty well with teenagers. Runts are hit or miss for me and hot tamales I only have 1 or 2 locations that actually sell it decently, but if you're already carrying those, it couldnt hurt to try. Pacifiers sounds like a good option too.

I assume this is based on the cost of PMM and RP?

That's exactly what it is. Look at the national operators. No RP and 50c PMM. The plan this year is to totally phase out my few RP locations. I may keep PMM and candy in bars. But eventually I will only be doing high margin. Gumballs, Runts, toys, Skittles.

I would do that if it sold for me, national guys have more high traffic areas and longer routes, I figure they can't do chocolate because it would go bad

I ran them several years ago and they are chalky. Anything that isn't coated usually will have a "dust" that will accumulate in the bottom of the machine and can also cause a dusty appearance in the globe. I also had issues during the warmer months with the candy becoming spotted (look like they have had water flicked on them") due to humidity. Obviously people have success with them but just wanted to share my experience using them. I won't run anything that isn't coated.

Yeah the chalky is what I'm afraid of, anyone ever try these?

The guy I just bought my route from ran flower power, it's similar to those. He dais it sold pretty well.

If they are selling really well then I doubt you'll have any problems with spotting. They never caught on for me so they would sit longer and I think that contributed to the problem. The dust was a bigger issue for me.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had a case of spree thrown into my route deal. The few locations I've resulted them at, they've done well. I think last I saw they were $60+ a case.

This was actually the first time I was able to try them personally. I like them. They're like Pucker ups, but chewy.

I've only had one customer request spree. Did good at first, now only moderate.

Sams, I love them.  I never thought I would. I always ask my niece what she likes and that is what she came up with after skittles.
