This year, I have donated more to this forum than I have spent on lottery tickets, movie tickets, video games, music tickets, sports tickets, and books combined. Fact. Last month, I spent more money on Mexican Coke than I have donated to this forum in the last 6 months. Harsh fact.

lacanteen
A blood donor loses about 650 calories by donating one pint of blood. That one pint of blood could save up to three lives.

lacanteen
In Singapore, all citizens are automatically signed up for organ donation when they turn 21. Those who opt out have a lower priority for getting an organ if they need a transplant in the future.

The average person spends $1,000 a year on lottery tickets. If they would have put that in the bank, they would have $10K in 10 years. (No interest checking, as if a savings account was much better.) Put it into the S&P 500, and they would have $20,238. If they had put that into Apple, they would have $35,891 by now, and it would be paying $522 a year in dividends. (Based on a stock Return Calculator with dividend reinvestment.) Then again this is a stock that went up about 49% last year.
