brendio
I delivered a machine out to a site yesterday - replacing coke vending because they were not responsive enough to frequent coin jams; their machine was a Vendo, looked like single price machine, with no credit display. Anyway, so I put in a DN 501T with an upgraded control board and 14 segment display. I checked everything was working before I left, test vended each column multiple times, all was good. Today, I got a phone call that it had taken someone's money, given change, but not dispensed the drink. I went out expected a column jam, entered service mode - no error message. Take motor cover off, all switches look to be in the right place, although far left column looks like it has gone further, almost past the notch, but no quite. I did a few test vends, everything fine. I then closed the door and the machine started vending and vended one of each column in the machine. I opened the machine, test vended again and tried to replicate that, but couldn't everything working fine. My site contact said the machine looked uneven, so I levelled the machine as best I could (I think the door hangs down a bit and isn't square with the cabinet, so levelled the cabinet). I imagine a warped machine will cause problems with jams, but in this case, there was no jam. Wondering if anyone has any idea on why the machine vended one of everything when I closed the door. I know it will home the columns when you close the door, but that it did it for everything makes me suspect a loose wire or break in the harness. AZVendor
Check for a ground on your power plug, a smashed or damaged power cord, sufficient voltage from the wall that doesn't vary, good connections on the logic board, no pinched or cut wires under the motor cover especially where the wires exit the cover, flickering, unlit or dark-at-the-end bulbs. Otherwise, replace the board and see if that fixes it.
brendio
I took the bulbs out, because they weren't on (one was flickering slightly when at the shed) and I don't know where to get replacements (I'm thinking of fitting LEDs or just leaving it dark). I suspect pinching of a wire where it exits the cover may be the culprit. I will see if I get any more calls for it.
Southeast Treats
Very similar problem - had a 501 in the past with a bad ground and it drove me crazy for weeks until I accidentally found the problem - in that case it was the ground wire from the cabinet to the outer door. The wire was connected at the cabinet but did not connect to the door, it just ended loose in the harness bundle. Fixed that and the machine has been happy ever since... brendio
I've had two calls for this machine now since my last message. I'm thinking the next call will be to tell me to remove the bloody machine. First callout was a typical coin jam. Three of four of the coins had dried muddy gunk on them, like someone had the coins in their pocket out on the farm with all the mud and dust. I cleared that and got a few days service. Yesterday, another call. Coins were just falling through. I checked, no error messages, and it came good from cycles into and out of service mode. I decided to replace the coin mech anyway since I had spares. I also checked the wiring and found a screw for the ground wire on the transformer was loose, so tightened that up. I also removed the plug to the light ballast too since I don't have any lights on it. As I was driving home, I thought I maybe should have changed the logic board too while I was there. The machine is getting decent sales when it's working, so I'd like to keep it. It's a 20 min drive there and 15 min more than my next nearest machine, so a bit annoying with service calls especially when they are not reproducible. AZVendor
The no coin acceptance issue could be motor switches.
brendio
What, all of them? I was told it accepted two coins fine and then stopped accepting more. The two coins were 20 cents coins so still well below set drink price.
