Replaced coin validator and it still sometime  doesnt give credit when change is put in. please help. I know thismachine sucksjust teying to get a littke more use out of it.thanks

Run some coins thru it by inserting a variety with the door open and hit the coin return. Put your hand under the shelf to catch the coins. Watch the action of the plungers as they pay-out the coins. If it is sluggish try cleaning it with contact cleaner that is plastic safe. I use a plastic safe electrical contact cleaner on mine. You can also press the little price buttons to test the plunger action. The action has to be very fast with a crisp clean sound as opposed to a dull thud sound. Any time I've had trouble with credits not being given it has always been the coin mech.

I think the problem he was having was that the machine was not registering credit for inserted coins, not that the payout wasn't working correctly.

Just in case here is the tuning procedure:

Genisis GO-380 coin acceptor tuning procedure:
Tuning procedures – blue acceptor
(1-nickel 2-dime 3-quarter 4-dollar)
For tuning quarters:
1. With power on, slide the switch that is directly under the white connector down to set.
2. Press the small black button that is next to the display three times so the display is 03.
3. Insert 20 different quarters. Each should come out the front and generate a tone/beep.
4. Slide the switch up to start. Test by inserting quarters – a +90% acceptance rate is expected.

Yes just change the number that reads on the side of the coin mech. You can see it thru the hole on the side of the pull-out drawer. You'll notice that before you start the procedure that when you insert a coin the number changes to match the coin. So when you insert a nickel the number changes to 01. When you start the tuning procedure just make sure the number matches the coins you are inserting. 03 is only for quarters.

Oh and just take your time and do it right. You don't want to retune your new coin mech to the wrong coin. When you are done test some coins and make sure that it is reading them correctly. I've had to do this with a few brand new coin mechs as well as some older ones that went out of tune.

  • 4 weeks later...

Did it work? Tonight I had one that was only accepting every other quarter and tried to tune it but an "f" would appear on the coin mech and not beep.
