jwalton
I have a location that I'm adding new machines to. The area that I have to work with is 86" wide. I'd like to give them a 48" wide glass front drink machine, and a 5 wide 37" snack machine, that adds up to 85". I've never squeezed machines that close together before and am wondering if this is something I shouldn't do? Has anybody ever put machines in an area that tight? I'm curious what other people do when they have limited space to work with. I could put a 4 wide snack machine there, then it would have plenty of room, but the location really calls for a 5 wide so I'd like to fit it in there if I can. Southeast Treats
It's doable, but you really have to figure out if you can open the doors in that tight a placement. If the doors swing up against a wall and can't fully open, stocking can be difficult, not to mention servicing a machine (like changing a compressor with the door only halfway open). Sometimes all it takes is making sure the hinges are in the middle and not on the ends, since most machines are designed to be installed in a group... and be very sure of your measurements too, including protruding hinges and such. When you install, get some heavy duty furniture sliders to go under the machines, I use the large plastic ones. Makes it easier to position in tight spots and protects the client's floor, which they really appreciate. Also makes it a little easier when you have to get the machine back out for some reason. If it's in an alcove or other area that restricts space in front of the machines as well, you could have door opening issues from that, also wheelchair access issues (ADA requires 48" of clear space in front for access). AZVendor
If they fit side by side and you can get the doors open then just make sure that there is lot's of room above them for airflow from the soda machine. You may find that one machine needs to be out further than the other to get both doors to open fully. As long as they stick out further than the alcove then there should be enough room to open the doors.
AngryChris
I'm not 100% sure if this would be best, but I want to believe that having the glassfront on the left and the snack machine on the right would be the optimal setup. The snack machine may need to stick out a little further than the glassfront to allow the door to open fully.
