Sparky
Hello, I am working on developing cheep cellular based telemetry device and website to track product, cash, inventory, etc. I am curious what types of features you guys like or don't like with with current solutions you guys have. Are more frequent updates important? Daily, Hourly, etc? Do you like specific reports, inventory management, route management, etc? I look forward to any feedback or suggestions! Chard
Low cost and easy setup for new equipment. Parlevel has a very nice system for reference. It is just too costly per machine.
Sparky
What would you consider as an affordable cost per machine?
AZVendor
Good luck. It's going to be tough to beat the systems that already have millions of dollars invested in their development.
Sparky
I'm always up for a good challenge.
arkhusker
What price would you consider reasonable for ongoing monthly service?
Sparky
I was thinking around 10 dollars but was looking for some input on price and features that would be most valuable. I also think I can create the hardware for around 50 dollars.
Chard
right now CC service is only about $7.95/month which gives the teletry data as well. You'd have to be well below that since card readers have become almost ubiquitous. Very few of our accounts would ever be cash only.
AngryChris
Technically, it's 7.95 for wireless connection, not cc service. So $10/month should include cc transactions and telemetry as well. Even at $8/month, I'd just get a cc reader.
arkhusker
Leasing telemetry/cc equipment from USAT is either $12.95 or 13.95 mo per device, just telemetry is 7.95. once the hardware is paid for (60mo w/o paying early) I believe the connection fees are $3.95or $4.95 (What I pay for micro-market device connections). You can have telemetry without cc but not the other way around. Parelevel's lease program, I think, is a $1/mo cheaper per device. One of their advantages is that telemeters are dex on demand vs. USAT's 3 times/day. The cc fees are the same since USAT is processing for them. I think to outright buy the hardware, Parlevel is cheaper. I can't speak to any of the other options.
Sparky
Thanks for the input, So it sounds like 10 dollars is a bit steep for telemetry only. Although the price of my device seems to be much lower. I have read the only 15% of machines accept credit cards today so I think I will continue to pursue telemetry and add credit card processing in the future.
