Vendo 480 with bad BA30B validator....or...?

Looking for help with issue on an old Vendo 480.

Unit has a Coinco BA30B validator and a Coinco 9302-GX coin mech.

Unit accepts and vends fine with coins.

Unit accepts bills, shows the $1 credit, push selection (couple times) and the bill gets pushed into the stacker, nothing vends and the $1 credit is gone.

Haven't done any recent cleaning/repairs on the machine - random failure of something.

Suspect the validator may not actually be the problem - don't have any spare mechs or validators (that are functional) to swap out so need to buy coin mech & validator asap & hope it is not the logic board.

Anyone know if the Coinco 9302 GX is interchangeable with the 9302 LF?  -  just trying to figure out what to target on Fleabay.

Recommendations?  Best place to pick up mechs/validators that will ship fairly quickly?  The big auction site is really hit & miss.

Thnx

The 9302-gx is MDB. The 9302 is not, so they aren't interchangeable but I think the acceptor head is.

Your problem sounds like it could be various things. How much are sodas? To have a 9302-gx means that you likely have a vendo 511 with a 5.1 control board.

Does this happen every vend? Every selection? Even with coins? It could still be the validator, but it could be something else. I recommend verifying that the validator has a Y harness with a 6-pin MDB plug at the end. If so, you'll save a lot of trouble by purchasing a mars/mei 2512 or 2502. A 9302-gx is a great mech.  The co info ba30 is a mediocre validator at best.

Copy that - machine data card says it's a Vendo 480 Basic - maybe the control board has already been updated - not sure.

MARS 2502 or 2501 - never could remember what the difference was...think one was for Coke machines only, this is a generic front.

Happens every vend - just started doing it, 10 selection machine, 9 can @ $.75 & 1 Gatorade @ $1.25 - been set up and operating this way for 3-4 years

The 4th digit on the mars validator has nothing to do with coke, pepsi, or anything like that. The 4th number represents the voltage.  A "1" indicated 110v, while a "2" indicates 24v. On an MDB machine,  you would want a 24v mars with an MDB harness.

On a 2512 for example,  the first two numbers indicate the series. 25 is vending,  and I believe 23 is vending too. 26 is amusement. The third number indicates the bezel that came with the validator when it was manufactured. I believe a 1 is a snack bezel while a 0 is a soda bezel. There are various bezels.

On the coinco, BA is the series, the first number indicates the bill box size that came with it, the second number is voltage  (0 is 110v, 2 is 24v), and the remaining characters represent the bezel it came with. So a BA30B is a 110v validator with a bottler mask and a 300 note bill box. However, BAs and MAGs were usually capable of being MDB compatible with a harness, regardless of the voltage.
