DN 2145/5591 - tall pushers? stabilizers? shims?

Bought a bunch of DN 2145/5591's and am learning the ins & outs of these suckers.

Do the tall pushers on the bottle drops make that much difference over the short ones?  A couple of the machines have home made tall pushers by zip tying pieces of lath or plastic to the shorty's - thought that was kind of bush league until I saw how much the tall pushers go for on Ebay - like $50+ for a set of 9 - wow, with 14 machines 45 selections each, looking at like $3500 to put tall pushers on each selection - could probably have some made for less than that....

Some of the slides on the 2145's look like they were not designed to accommodate pushers - is this correct?  Do I have to buy new slides to put pushers on there?

Same for the stabilizers - if they help, am inclined to put them on every selection, but put off by costs - do you just kind of wait for a problem with a specific product and then add a stabilizer?

Shims - is there a way to "whiten up" the discolored shims?  or toss buy new ones?

You can't add pushers to slides.  If they don't have them then they are old style or the pushers have broken off and were removed.  You also can't do anything for yellowed spacers but replace them.  I have slides with short pushers and new spacers of you need some.  Email me at rbepic4gatgmaildotcom.
