fhamann
I have encountered this problem on several Vendo, and possibly some Dixie Narco soda machines. When I open the outer door about one inch, the inner door gets stuck and I need to use a screw driver to pry the inner door forward so I can continue to open outer door. What causes this issue? Am I doing something wrong? Is the inner door tweaked in some way? I cannot figure out what causes this common problem. regards, Frank Hamann Orange, CA
AZVendor
On Vendos there is a bracket on the inside of the door at the lower left corner of the inner door when looking out from the inside. The inner door is supposed to be captured by the bracket using friction holding the inner door to the outer door. You just need to bend that bracket up a bit so it will grab the bottom of the inner door again. On DN machines there is a Burst Open latch mounted to the inner door (lower right corner looking in) that is supposed to grab a horizontal dog inside the outer door, usually near the coin box. The burst open latch has a spring-loaded nylon latch that grabs the dog and holds the doors together. If the doors are slammed together when those pieces aren't aligned properly then the nylon pivot breaks off. Sometimes it's that the dog is out of adjustment or someone has removed the burst open latch, or both. I have burst open latches if you need any. Email me at rbepic4gatgmaildotcom. fhamann
Thanks AZ. That was an easy fix on my old Vendo. I just bent the bracket up it it works great. I noticed there is also, a few inches above the bracket, a plastic hook that somehow latches onto the front door. It does not seem to do anything. Do you know what this hook should do? fhamann
I figured it out. It seems my Vendo has the friction bracket as well as the burst open latch. In my case, the burst open latch is broken, but the friction bracket is good enough for the door to work properly.
AZVendor
That is the Burst Open latch that catches on an opposing 1 1/2" bar that screws to the inside of the door.
