Sgolembiewski0903
Hi All! So I went to an account today and the coin mech was acting weird. Below is the link to the pic... The little thing that looks similar to the top of the capital letter "H", with a circular mark above it... When I run a quarter through it it catches the quarters and clogs up the mech. I can't see how it happens because the cover is closed when I insert the quarter, but it seems weird to me because that little thing/flap seems like it should be closed all the time? I've never dealt with a coin mech, but the thought of superglue it closed ran across my mind... granted I exnayed that idea until I can learn a little more! I couldn't get the mech to work, had to replace it? https://photos.app.goo.gl/Wh4QTZPjxclDk8q53
AZVendor
You want to glue the acceptor gate closed? This DIY stuff has to stop! In your photo the gate isn't closed so you either have a coin stuck in it or you have a melted gate coil that needs to be replaced - but then you might have a problem in the mech because the coil shouldn't melt. Pop the acceptor off the mech - turn power off first - and then remove the back of it to free up any loose coins in the rear coin path. If it's all grimy in there then get the coin mech serviced. You also have a filthy coin path there. Clean the grime off the plastic with just a dry paper towel, NO LIQUIDS. The grime is very oily from people's fingers and you'll just smear the grime with a damp cloth. Use a dry paper towel to scrub the grime off. NYCandyMaN
those are your sensors, you do not want to crazy glue them or have them wet! clean with a rag, if the sensors are melted, youll have to replace the unit, its hard to find someone to fix the older parts, just get a new coin mech, save the trouble
AZVendor
NY, you're crazy, man. Coincos can be easily repaired by any repair depot, and he wasn't going to superglue the sensors, he was talking about the coin acceptor gate. And I was talking about the acceptor gate coil. Sgolembiewski0903
There were some coins jammed behind the acceptor gate. I'm going to give the mech a good cleaning. Now I'm curious how coin mechs work, does anyone have a video on that? 8 hours ago, lacanteen said: Google is your friend: How to unjam a Coinco changer https://youtu.be/5LJ_6L9CAd8 Are those two little things that look like flathead screwdriver slots above the coin track sensors? If so, I'm guessing the sensors open up the acceptor gate?
Sgolembiewski0903
I ended up using a coinco quantumpro 4-tube as a replacement, but I ran into some problems... I couldn't figure out how to get the USI3129 to switch to "deposit coins" mode so I deposited them manually by lifting that tiny flap above the coin tubes, took a while... Whne I was done I saw that I put a dime in the nickel spot about 3/4 up the tube. I spent like five minutes trying to figure out how to empty the tubes but couldn't figure it out... Can anyone provide some insight on this? I left the dime in there knowing that there is a 99% chance it won't dispensed in the next two weeks due to its location. AZVendor
Turn off the power, remove the coin mech, remove the acceptor and with two fingers over the quarter and dime tubes turn the mech upside down and dump enough coins out to get to the dime. Then don't be surprised if you have to replace the mech down the road as the USQ mechs are problematic.

I didn't want to break anything and didn't really see how to... Maybe I missed it, but I couldn't really figure that part out?
orsd
Lift up gently. If it doesn’t move then take the flight deck off, and loosen the 3 screws behind it. Flight deck is the top part of the acceptor above the coin tubes. Should be two levers on the top of the sides of the mech. Lift up the levers and pull flight deck forward. orsd
Oh and gently disconnect the cable that connects the flight deck to the rest of the mech.
