Confused Vendo 480

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have a Vendo 480 with a Mars 2000- VN2501 U3 Validator and a Coinco 9300L coin mech, that can't figure out if it wants to work or not. I've gotten multiple reports that it doesn't want to accept coins or bills and then when I get there it's working again. On my 3rd call I swapped out the coin mech, that was 2 days ago and I got a call today saying "it was working this morning but this afternoon it's not".

I asked around the warehouse and had several people tell me that couldn't get it to accept their money, one said earlier in the week that after a transaction it vended 10 cans. Not sure how that would happen.

Anyone know what this could be? The coin mech has never been lower than 6 coins in a slot when I've gone in, I topped them off. I'm thinking at this point the board is going. It was rebuilt about just over a year ago.

Is it single price?  If it is, then you might just have a motor that keeps getting stuck.. maybe a bad brake or bad switch.  If it's multiprice then you can disregard what I said.

I agree with Cris. Single price and motor is getting stuck in cycle disabling machine. After a while the motor cools down and starts again and clears the jam putting it back in service. Just need to find out which motor it is.

It's multi price. Actually there is a motor down that I haven't bothered to try and fix. The pop machine only makes a couple hundred a month there so one motor down wasn't the biggest priority for me. Could that be the issue? I never thought about that.

Yes, that could be it especially if the problem with the motor is the motor switches.  Spend the money and keep it working or you'll be out one $200 per month account for lack of putting a motor on it.

PS: You should be filling it and only servicing it every 3-4 weeks to make it worthwhile instead of cutting corners with it.

Not sure why the question was repeated. Thanks for the help Chris, Randy, and C vending. Should I replace the motor in addition to the motor switch?

Is there a way to unplug the motor that will allow the machine to keep working until I can run down to VE?

Just leave it empty

On a multiprice machine you can unplug and remove any motor without problem.  What was the reason you determined it was bad?  If the column continued to jam then you may not have a bad motor but a worn out gate link.  But a bad motor switch could also be the reason.
