bullyfrog
I've recently bought some machines, both snack and soda. I don't know the history on them but several of them have the lights gone and need repaired or replaced completely. As I'm going through them several are missing one or both of the sockets others look burnt and I'm very doubtful that they work. All of the drink machines are Dixie Narco, some are old single price machines with a few 501Es as well. Snack machines are all over the place, mostly Polyvend and USI. Can someone walk me through the quickest easiest way to add lights to these machines. LEDs or fluorescent, I really have no preference. I've got about 20 machines that need repaired and some are older so cost is the main concern.
AZVendor
Just replace the sockets and put new bulbs in. Very simple to do. Most of them probably just need bulbs. The snacks will also need new starters.
Corvus Corax
Snacks are usually pretty easy to switch to LED.
bullyfrog
Is there a generic go to replacement or is it machine specific? Can replacements be purchased that simply plug in or do they all require to be hard wired in? Sorry for the noob questions. I've never really had to mess with the lighting other than changing bulbs. Corvus Corax
This is what I used https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B073D5SSWQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1521981926&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=quans+led+4+pack&dpPl=1&dpID=41bmqIgiXdL&ref=plSrch They are 110v and you can daisy chain them. You clip the wires going to the lamp ballast assembly. Wire nut the pigtail to the 110v ends. They come with mounting clips, but you can use double sided tape. Zip ties or sticky magnets. bullyfrog
So one is 12-24v and one is 110v?
Corvus Corax
Fluorescent are inherently a.c. with the ballast regulating the current. This means the power going to the ballast lamp assembly is 110v. Usually in a snack machine this is mounted on the top inside of the door. This makes them easy to swap out for led. Now some AMS machines use an electronic ballast which sends 32v a.c. to the lamp, so the 110v led won't work. You need to take the 110v feed to the electronic ballast, and extend it to the led lamp. Soda machines are more complex, most use a 64in fluorescent bulb. You won't find these at Home Depot. You usually have to buy by the box of 15 or 30.
