T Handle Lock

Recommended Posts

I can't get the handle to lock properly. If the T handle locks in then the door isn't closed all the way. It opens about 1-2 inches. If I get the door to completely close tightly, the t handle won't click to lock. It's driving me crazy. It's a royal vending machine made 550-9. On a side note, our fire house bought this for the members and since it came with only one key I changed the cylinder and thinking it wasn't difficult.......... removed the whole bolt and the c pins with the springs. Apparently a terrible idea as I've tried every combination possible. PLEASE HELP.

I have an update.   ok. I put a spring between the cylinder lock part and the stationary part that the T pushes into. Then fed the bolt through and put a c pin in the first groove (it's thinner then the rest of the bolt)t'd then the straight pin that grabs the inside to spin and tighten the door closed. Then a spring then a washer and c pin on the middle groove. This allows the door to close all the way. BUT.... the twist part of the T still won't catch to lock. If I remove the cylinder lock, I can push the T handle all the way in. Did I buy the wrong cylinder? I also bought the extra bar that covers the T handle that accepts a padlock. I can take that route but would really like to have the T handle lock also.

You have it put together wrong. You are supposed to put the pin in the end of the threaded stud and then slide it into the T-handle from the machine side. Now put a spring over the threaded stud and up against the T-handle, then a C-clip to hold tension on the compressed spring.  Now put the 5 sided brass washer onto the threaded stud and feed it into the receiver on your door from the front leaving the T-handle in the receiver.  Now put a spring on the stud and slide it against the receiver, then a round washer and a C-clip to hold pressure on that spring. Now it should work properly.  If the T-handle still won't tighten the door because the handle keeps skipping when it should be tightening then you have a worn out T-handle that needs to be replaced.  If either C-clip doesn't lock into a groove then it's worn out and has to be replaced.  You can't bend them tighter.
