southerngal108 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I am looking at filling a few machines with Peanut M&M's. My local Sam's only has 3.5 pound bags for 10.00. Is this a good deal or is there somewhere else you are buying them from for a cheaper price.
Beer980 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 That is about it unless you have a Costco or BJ's. I would not fill over 1/2 with the price they are at now.
nam Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 We buy at Costco and Sams but the price isn't quite that high in our area - yet! Doubt you could buy for any less especially if you had to pay shipping. Just gonna have to vend fewer and like Beer says make sure you only fill part way so you don't risk losing product to spoilage. The higher these prices go just makes me want to do more toys, gumballs, sticker and tattoos. nam
ghostridergt Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I keep thinkin the same thing nam, but do toys and stickers bring in enough to make it worth it? Southerngal, I get mine at sams for $7.85 a bag and barely make a profit on the blasted things, per bag im running about a 60% cogs so needless to say its becoming less and less worth it, if they go up to $10 I cant say id keep em for sure.
southerngal108 Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 It looks like the Peanut M&M's are the most popular. Several people have asked for them. It just doesn't seem worth it at that price. thanks for the replies. I'll keep looking and post if I find anything different.
dperry Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I hafta wonder if the cost of M&M's will go back down. Based on the fact that it's prolly mostly venders like ourselves who buy the large bulk bags, and if we stop buying them in favor of lower cost candies, they may have to lower their prices or pull out of the bulk vending market and stick with the snack size.
Faith Vending Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I agree, old supply and demand will prevail:cool: I have cut way back on PMM.
davidsurvz Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 How much are you vending per quarter? 1 oz., 3/4 oz., 1/2 etc.....
timberframe50 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Last time I bought PMM they were 7.14, just check and they now sell for 8.79 for the 56 oz bag. I'm going to continue selling until I use up my inventory then I will have to evauluate this. I typically only vend 5 to 6 pieces, has not slowed sales any.
davidsurvz Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I vend @ 1/2 oz. (6 pieces) per vend and I make out OK. That is $28.00 gross per 56 oz. bag. I try to sell GB or Skittles with Pmm's at my locations and that keeps my margins up. At $10.00 / bag (which I haven't paid yet.) I still make $18.00 profit per bag on Pmm's I sell enough of them that it is worth it at about 6 or 7 of my locations. I also know that you can pick up a steal at Wal-Mart on regular Pmm's after just about every holiday. (That is a great time to stock up.)
nam Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Ok, I'm too tired to do the math so help me out here. Amazon.com has PMM's in a 39lb box for $139.00 and $27.00 shipping. Deal or no deal? It's 1 am and just too tired to think. lol Seems high, huh? nam

dperry Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Has anybody thought about mixing the higher priced M&M's with the lower priced RP's to try and get a cheaper mix?
southerngal108 Posted March 25, 2009 Author Posted March 25, 2009 Has anybody thought about mixing the higher priced M&M's with the lower priced RP's to try and get a cheaper mix? What are the RP's?

Medford Jeff Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 I am paying right at $0.20 per oz, or $11.20 per 3.5 lb bag at Winco Foods. I am vending about 0.5 oz, or $0.10 worth per vend, which is my most expensive product by far. Most of my other products like JB, HT, M&I, & Peanuts only cost me $0.05 to $0.06 per vend. These numbers do not include service costs, just candy. Jeff
reel Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Just for interest of you US bulk vendors, i pay A$91.00 for a 10kg ctn (22 lbs) of MM Choc and MMP. They are actually manufactured here in Australia.
nam Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Ron, Thanks for explaining the quanity to us as most including me just never have any reason to use metric so have no idea of how much 10kg would be. I have alot of metic tools now as I have to and beginning to learn which size wrench to use. Have a bit of an idea if it is 8mm or 12mm. Do they make metric screw drivers and hammers? Actually, we just rarely have to use this in our normal life so hard to remember what the conversion is on standard and metric. Wish it were all the same as working on things sometime half are metric and half are standard. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks. nam
Beer980 Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Kilo is about 2.2 pounds, that is how I ballpark it.
antoniocinisi Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 my sams here changed prices again for the 3 time.first it went down then up then down again, now they are8.26 a bag
antoniocinisi Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 9.14 here antonio...before taxthats what they charge for the dark pmm and mm here
T BIRD Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Well......BJ's finally moved their price up for PMM. It's 9 bucks a bag now.........:(
candykid Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 9.99 plus tax (5%) at Costco I vend 5 to 6 PMM per vend and have actually opened a bag and counted out the number of vends to see what was left over - there was lots left over. I consider PMM to be a good seller when they are placed in man type places, such as tire stores and lumber yards and the profit is there. I take the approach of 30% of something is better then 40% of nothing.
