Check your machines before you place them...

This is my genius at it's best. I have a location (a garage) I went to service it a couple of weeks ago and the machine was empty (PMM's.) I tried to open it and my key was broken. I went home to get another key and came back and the lock was broken.... (I think the broken key messed up the pins.) So I figured I'd rush home, pick up another machine and swap them out. I come home and quickly grab the1st "ready to go" machine and take it to the location. I filled it up (1/2 way with Pmm's and head out.) I get an email yesterday from my charity partner (they have their number on the decals they had made up for my machines) saying this location called and the machine was "empty." "Cool!" I thought "that emptied out quick. I'll have to try a triple at this location." I go there today (with a triple) and the owner asks how much it costs to fill up a machine. I gave him a ball park and he hands me $20.00 and says you might want to throw that machine in the trash "cause it's busted!" (I live in NC);) So I asked him what was wrong with it and he said "the candy just dumps out of it when you turn it." I was disappointed and confused and brought it home to look at it.. ............

DUH!!! I had the candy wheel in bakwards so the candy was just falling through to the chute:shock:...............

At least he paid me for it he said him and his son ate them all up.:D

LOL!

The same happened to me with roasted peanuts.  I was converting the machine from gumballs to candy wheel while the shop owner was yacking in my ear the whole time.  My concentration was divided and I put the brush housing on backwards so the product just dumped out chute.  When I had tested it, it did give alot of product, but not that much.  I didn't shake the machine or anything, which would have been a dead-give-a-way.

I didn't find out till the guy called me up a week later saying it was empty.  There was only $3 in it.  This was a double with a mix of M&M plain and Reeses, and the other side was empty too, but it was full of quarters, so I didn't complain and just took my lumps.

Bought a small route from a guy last month. On the location list he made a note next to one location that he has to go every ten days or so because the machine is always empty. When I went it was three quarters empty with about 5 bucks in it. I realized the candy wheel was on backwards! He had set the portion size to the smallest size.....I guess in an attempt to limit how much candy was coming out. God only knows how much candy the guy gave away in 7 months!!!!

Much more than he was paying for the candy that's for sure. I've had gumball risers break, and had the customer pissed but not the other way around.

Is it an Oak?

Make sure the screw that holds the gear on the back of the mech has not become loose. Sometimes when they become loose they will spin and not turn the gumball wheel. If it is loose be sure to put a drop of Loctite on it.
