I've got a Genesis Combo that has coin problems every week.  The coins either get all jammed, pass through reading dimes and nickels or just disappear leaving the person with no credit after they deposit some coins.

I'm getting SICK of going down there every few days to work on it.  It is a great account and I don't want to lose it.

Thoughts?  Should I replace the coin mech with a better quality one?  If so...how do I find one that will fit?  Where do you buy coin mechs?

Thanks,

Michael

The crappy little coin mech is fried... its not causing the jam thou... that is the feed tube.

I have 4 genesis machines and I'd like to get rid of them... but I don't know how I'd recoup the money.

The feed tube works on gravity... and the machine and the coin tube.. the one that goes to the coin tubes must be level for the mech to operate properly. Its even good to have have the front of the machine slighly raised to have the coins roll back into the coin tubes.

Take off the coin feed tube and drop coins thru it, while holding it level if they roll thru without issue then spray some wd-40 on there and put it back... its a level issue.

if it gets jammed.. then something is stuck in there or the feed tube is bent. Fix that.

The coin mech is that blue or black thing with the digital 05 on it that is shaped like a block. The coins drop thru it and into the feed tube and the sensor registers what type of coin it was. If its not reading the coin... it could be bad, dirty, or unplugged from the board. Take it off and inspect it for excess dirt wear or problems with the pins on the connectors... spray with connector cleaner if you have some. Test by dropping coins into it.

The machines really suck because it doesn't have a standard coin mech that you can swap with something else.

Good luck

I have never tried a different coin mech on my Genesis combo machines but if you find one that works, let me know.

What about the bill acceptors?  My machines take an ICT BL-700.  Anything comparable?

Be careful spraying that WD 40 anywhere near coin mechs or plastic.  Always use a silicone spray for best results.
