golpher Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I found this, ( http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/bfs/1096861580.html ) on Craigs list. It looks like this guy steals random machines drills out the locks for the quarters and now has a bunch of mismatched machines sitting in his house. I am tempted to call this guy get his address then call the police and report him. Why else would someone have all these different type machines all with no locks?
BluePlate Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I've bought 3 routes since I've been involved in vending. With that I have bought 2 seperate lots of machines. I have, Amerivends, Oaks, Nothwesterns, Beavers, A&A Globals, Vendstars, ultravends, Vendmaster. I'm looking at doing some Spring cleaning, beacause many of my machines are keyed alike, I would not sell my locks with some of these machines.
Bravo Duck Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 He didn't steal the bodies and globes on the bottom, that stuff hasn't been on location in years. Lots of people don't sell their locks especially if they're using that same lock elsewhere on their route.
golpher Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 I understand that most vendors have different types of machines, I only have 25 machines and I have 4 different kinds. However this just screams stolen machines. Maybe I am biased because my home was robbed 2 weeks ago, luckily they did not carry out any of my machines waiting to be placed. They did take a box of assorted bags of candy. I can just picture the robbers back at their hideout eating my PMM, Skittles and Gumballs!!
Beer980 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Man that's cold, stealing your PMM with the price they are at now. It may have been teenagers who did it then.

Why else would someone have all these different type machines all with no locks There are locators AND vendors in your area with a reputation for doing just that! I have heard this from two different full time vendors in your area. Of course, we don't really know in this particular case. But I usually never buy equipment with missing locks. I have accumulated a number of locks over the years from buying used and I would assume that most other full time vendors do as well. I just swap the extra locks for mine when I sell a machine. The police can rarely help you.Jax
dperry Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 You get some fishy folks on CL sometimes. I was looking for a copy of the Rosetta Stone for Spanish. They sell new for $200-$250, which is more than I want to pay. So I was looking for a used one on CL. Found a guy who would install it on my PC for $75. He would come to my house and install it. I didn't get the cd, and if I wanted any tech support, I had to go to him. That's crazy. That just smelled like a scam. I'm sure the guy got one copy and now he's trying to get away with reselling it as much as he can without giving away the disk.
nepavend Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Maybe I am naive but I dont understand not giving the locks with the machines. I dont have the time to go around looking for more of your machines with the same lock/key to steal them and take the machines and/or money in them.
antoniocinisi Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Maybe I am naive but I dont understand not giving the locks with the machines. I dont have the time to go around looking for more of your machines with the same lock/key to steal them and take the machines and/or money in them. I still have a 705 key from my old locks and know where theres 2 racks that I could open with it. a shady vendor could take advantage of this. I keep all my locks unless the buyer is more then 1 state away in the few cases I sell off a machine on ebay.
Jax Snacks Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 I am not talking about keying another vendor's machines that match my lock. What I am saying is that there are vendors that hate having any competition so much that they will steal the other vendors's machine. There are also locators that when looking for locations, will take some machines near the door. Other locators will locate machines and then come back a few weeks later and take them by pretending to be the partner of the original vendor. I know a vendor in another city that had a number of machines stolen. At each location was a newly placed Buzz Bite machine. When the Buzz Bite vendor was contacted, he said he used a locator from Ohio (probably Cleveland area - another home to a number of sleaze locators). It really does happen! Jax
shvend Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Golpher I will not post any pictures of my warehouse because you will be calling the police on me. After so many years in the business a operator collectes several different types of machines. Some out trade or business owners buying there own and giving them up for cheap.
