kai1836 Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 I am cleaning up some machines and have a small problem. I have a few with tab gum stuck in them and I can't get it out. This gum is at least 5 or 6 years old and is in a solid block inside the head of a few machines. Does anyone know of a solution I could pour on the gum to loosen it up or partially dissolve it? thanks.
shvend Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 What I do is take a flat head screw driver and lodge out all that I can, and then set the machine is water and let it soak. If you can not get the machine that you are using in a sink, you are going to need some elbow grease to get it out.
Quarter Master Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Kai, If the gum is in a place you can access, try using a hair dryer (on high) to help soften the pieces so you can remove the big chunks.
kai1836 Posted April 1, 2009 Author Posted April 1, 2009 thank you both .....i am going to attempt both of these! thanks again
nepavend Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I usually use a flathead screwdriver to get all the gunk out and then clean or rinse with hot water.
lurtsman Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Suggestion. If the machine is too large to fit in your sink--there is an extra large sink made for washing children and occasionally adults. Frequently it is referred to as a bath tub.
kai1836 Posted April 3, 2009 Author Posted April 3, 2009 Thanks lurts......question: Where do you find one of these "bath tubs" ?
Bravo Duck Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Home Depot and Lowes has mop sinks that are big enough.
nam Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I've got a high pressure washer that works pretty good. The problem is trying to hold onto the cannisters or whatever when the high pressure hits it. It will knock it out of your hand and if you hit you hand with the the spray nozzel it doesn't feel real nice. You can spray just water or add whatever cleaner with the push of a button. Also available at Lowes or Home Depot and Sams. nam
