T BIRD Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I have been in the middle of a situation where I bid and won 2 Round Beaver machines ( used ). Upon delivery to me, I opened the box and was absolutely floored at how horrible these 2 machines were in terms of condition. Of course the seller claimed that I knew before I paid for them what I was getting etc etc etc. I even offered the lunatic to pay for the shipping back to him if he would refund the money. He reluctantly said ok but that I would have to send the machines back to him first. I told him I was not mailing squat back to him until I received my cash back first. So I waited for a few days to see what would happen. Dope Head filed a complaint with PayPal against me claiming I refused to pay for the merchandise. So I then filed a claim with PayPal explaining to them what I offered him and what the condition of the machines were. I was NOT asked to provide photos. Anyway.......I received an e mail just now that says I won. And.......Mr. Einstein has to pay for the shipping back to him now.........LOL!! I luv it! He sells on E Bay. He has plenty of these machines and usually sells them 2 at a time. Buyer beware.
Jax Snacks Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 This is clearly an "item not as described" problem that is covered by ebay/paypal protection. Also, nail him with negative feedback. I love the web, you do something bad and the whole world will know about it. Glad you got a refund. I had some goofball never even ship my machines to me! He claimed that he was waiting on a part and did not want to ship a damaged machine - probably a stall tactic. After that, he never returned calls or emails. So I filed a claim and won. He seemed surprised that this could happen. The good part is that 2 yaers later, he must have started selling again and as soon as his balance was abover zero, paypal refunded me the $50 transaction charges! He must have been shocked that 2 years later he would also have to pay the penalty fees. Jax
candygirl Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I had a bad experience with an e-bay seller too. I bought a brand new Round Beaver double head with cash drawers on a stand for a very good price, waited five weeks while being told three times "it's been sent". Only after I dinged the guy with a negative review did the machine ship. It arrived with the flimsiest of packaging--a couple of balled-up newspapers around the stand, minus the globe head keys. I never did receive them. The seller claimed he had sent them. I wonder if ti's the same guy. I've thought about posting a "buyer beware" about him. I've since seen more negative reviews about him from buyers who bought Beaver machines from him.

nepavend Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 This is another reason why I really don't buy much from Ebay, I think I have personally bought equipment twice including today from Ebay in 3 years in business. It is difficult to verify condition and representation of what items really are unless the seller is local, shipping costs make it nearly prohibitive to buy something for the right price unless it is a hard to find item that you really must have and can't find anywhere else. Craigslist shopping is also buyer beware to a degree but you have more control over it because you can choose where to search and buy from, and in most cases you are meeting the seller and seeing the item beforehand, so shipping is much less of an issue. Also we have Nam, our resident CL searching expert looking out for us as well!
caserri Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I have a great ebay story... I once bought was a used NW double. I paid about $50 for the double on a stand. After a week or so, I received the machine in better than anticipated condition. (I had nothing to compare it to since it was my first NW so I was happy) About a week after I got the machine in the mail, I received another package from the same seller! I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it up and found another NW double just like to one I paid for! I had to contact the seller to let him know but he apologized and told me to just keep it. He apologized to me! Can you believe it? I have been very fortunate buying on eBay. I've been buying and selling on eBay since 1998 and have never had a negative issue with either a buyer or seller. Steve
T BIRD Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 I received my full refund including shipping this morning. Hopefully the funds of this guy are there and this transaction wont bounce.
