Gumballs are better in warmer weather. Like fresh baked !

This is my first summer of bulk vending and have found a pleasant surprise.  The warm weather makes the gumballs nice and soft like never before.  It's like they're fresh baked and just taken out of the oven.  :P  It was only 92 here today and this seems the ideal temperature.  Just hoping 115 doesn't burn my gumballs!

Interesting observation nam.  Being in Arizona you guys have more of a "dry" heat.  I wonder if the more humid areas have noticed the same thing or if that makes them stick together, discolor, etc.  Anyone?

Warm weather is good for gumballs, but bad for candy. Conversely, cold weather is bad for gumballs but good for candy. Go figure. That means you can't store your candy with your gumballs.

I had a dry cleaner that had no climate control. In June, the gumballs turned into a big glob. The temps hit the low 90's with high humidity in June. I would think that 100+ would also do the same thing - even if it is a "dry heat". Funny how that heat makes those stale gumballs seem fresh again. Almost like putting a hard hockey-puck like bagel into the microwave - suddenly it's fresh again!

Today was Wednesday so our day to go to the bowling alley and pass out free gumballs to everyone. Well, they noticed how much softer the gumballs were and had other parents ask where we got the gumballs. No one ever had such nice fresh gumballs. lol You used to see hot nut machines all over in stores. Maybe we should have hot gumball machines. Gumballs baked fresh daily.   :dude:

Ron,

Not at all. We have a disabled 26yr old son that bowls in Special Olympics. They take the entire bowling alley over two days a week for all these "Special O's" as they call themselves. Many are mentally challenged and some are handicapped in other ways. It is the highlight of the week for many of them. We always go on Wed. each week and pass out free gumballs. I look like the pied piper with bunches of them coming to greet us as we walk in with our bucket of gumballs. I walk around and cheer the bowlers on and give them just enough so they don't get sick. lol So many including our son will swallow the darn gumballs. They might follow me in the bowling alley but probably not out the door to the river. lol Today, all are well trained in "stranger safety". In the beginning many would not take a gumball until told it was ok as they know not to take anything from strangers. It really is alot of fun for us and we really enjoying doing it.

Nam,

Im very sorry i didnt realise all that. Yes i can imagine they do very much look foward to you with your gumballs.

Unfortunately these days you need to be so carefull as there are just so many idiots out there that get a thrill from hurting innocent people, especially people who need special care.

Bring them to Aust for a great vacation, Australia Zoo is very close to where i reside.

Ron,

No problem. We are members of the zoo here in Phoenix. It's very large in size but not the best zoo we've been to at all. Made the mistake of going one day when it was 112 degrees. This is desert of course so very limited shade. All the animals were of course hiding some where and didn't get to hardly see any. Absolutely died walking that place on blacktop in direct sunlight with little shade. Worst day I ever spent here. lol Now when it's that hot we're in air cond. house or pool. Whatever you gotta do has to be done early am or don't do it.
