kai1836 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I ordered some awhile ago and they are almost impossible to open......any tips on easy opening?
nam Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I agree completely. I can open them but sure it's much harder for the little kids. My 6 yr old grandson opens them but does sometimes have a hard time. He seems to manage pulling the clear wrap off so it will open. I just squeeze it in the middle to break the connection but know the kids probably can't do that. They really should do more to make they easier to open. nam
ginger vend Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I do because I have had too many complaints with 1.1 acron misvends (with both A/A and NW machines). Actionmatic has some toy selections that come in "easy open" caps and they also sell empty "easy open" caps. I buy the "easy open" capped toys if I can and if not I get the "hard to open" caps. I had rather have a hard to open product complaint vs "I had to give out quarters because the machine misvended" from the location owner. I do agree all round caps should be the "easy open" opens because the others are a real pain in the you know what to open. Ginger Vend
Jax Snacks Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I have also noticed that Actionmatic caps have been easier to open recently. They must have made some modifications for their newer stuff. I have been using round caps for a couple years and have never had a complaint about them. I really hate those 1.1 and 2.0 acron caps and avoid them as much as possible now. Jax
lurtsman Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 So I'm not the only one who had problems with 2.0 acorn caps and misvends, good to know.
nam Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 lurtsman, Stick with the round capsules and you won't have the problems you get with those acorn. Acorns are old school. Brand won't even sell them anymore. Have a nice Easter! nam
West Coast Vend LLC Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I use both acorn and round. The ones I use open very easy because they have a plastic strip around the opening that you peel off. They are from Brand Vending. You can set up the mech's like you would with gum balls for them and they work great. Gary
T BIRD Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I am finishing up a box full of acorn caps I bought when I first started the business. Thanks for the suggestions here.
Jax Snacks Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 So I'm not the only one who had problems with 2.0 acorn caps and misvends, good to know.Always use a baffler on 2 inch machines. It cuts down on the mis-vends.
nam Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Antonio, The baffler is a barrier that prevents all the balls, capsules, gumballs or whatever from pushing down on what's being vending through the wheel to vend the product. It may be like a round shield made of metal, plastic or whatever and helps keep the ones at the bottom being feed into the wheel a bit looser. With too much weight they may not move as well so may have a problem vending. nam
Jax Snacks Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Looks sort of like a mushroom that slides down the center rod. Helps prevent the "log jam" effect. Jax
