sterling Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I have an opportunity to buy 4 peppermint pattie machines for $25 each with keys, counter top. I think with these I could get them into nicer restaurants however I'm not so sure how many items each machine can hold and if I want to stock and worry about a product that can melt so easily. Any advice on these machines?
nam Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 You need to talk to Antonio as he now has like 14 of these on his route. I know I've read a few posts here where they seem to say these can be money makers. The cost is only a little over 3 cents each at Sams Club. You can also put these on a rack or even a double. They're supposed to be great in restuarants. The price of $25 seems great - can't go wrong at that price. nam
antoniocinisi Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I actually only have 9 of these that I bought from a lady that were already on location.I don`t know much about these yet.the patties cost 3.8 cents each.I think melting could be an issue.the machines hold lots of patties, can`t say exactly how many yet,I will service my route tomorrow and will know more then.
lurtsman Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Are these vended in a one inch capsule? Do they come in the caps? Is it 1 inch caps, or 1.1 inch acorns?
nam Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 They aren't vended in any size capsules. They come individually wrapped in foil and are stacked in the machines one on top of another. Each turn of the mech will vend one patty. nam
kai1836 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 They are neat to look at but a pain to clean out. If the patties go bad the only way I saw to empty out the leftovers was to completely remove the machine from the stand or rack and turn it upside down. Plus to get to the money on mine you have to go through the back....I only put 7 patties per tube in mine to see how they sell. It seems like they would do well but we'll see.

nam Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Antonio, Did you do your first pull on these patty machines and how did they do? nam
sterling Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 I bought 4 of the peppermint pattie machines today for $100. They don't seem to be the best construction but I believe they will make money. I also paid a locator $30 each to find 2 locations for me today. I didn't think I'd ever do that since I'm always in and out of businesses all day anyway. Well see how it goes.
antoniocinisi Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Antonio, Did you do your first pull on these patty machines and how did they do? nam not well.2 machines had a quarter in it(golf course and another).the one with the most money in it had 5.50 in it.I made less then 30 bucks but not sure exactly how much. on the positive side, only 1 machine is kinda out of the way and according to the old owner it is one of the top 3 . all the rest are very close to each other or other stops on my route.I am not discouraged though (not too much anyways)I just will put them on a longer service rotation if need be.they were serviced a month ago, maybe I may service them every other time I do my racks.I will see what happens in 6 weeks and decide then if they need serviced every 12.even then it may be too early to make that call.I will play it by ear. certain locations will do better in differant times of the year.the 2 hotels will have sold some patties by the time I go there next.1 location wants another machine with gumballs as a request, and at least 2 more may be open to another machine. it seems that they hold over 100 patties per machine.
candykid Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Well we have 19 patty machines. They only go into restaurants that serve dinner/supper. I would recommend putting the machine on a stand as most restaurants don't have front counter space to lend. We buy the patty mints at Costco - .05/ea. The machine holds almost all 240 patties. Don't over stuff the machine it jams and make sure the mint is right side up. A chopstick is great for turning the patty mint over. The 7 spiral plastic insert pulls out, there is a screw underneath in the coin box that holds it in place. Watch for sun exposure!!!!! We are very happy that we happened upon these machines - they are popular and a good money maker.
