markvend Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 My two local Sam's stores stopped carrying Runts effective immediately. I have a few machines that do well with them (great margins!) but won't horribly miss this candy. Anyone else had the same experience with your local Sams? Mark
bacho Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 My Sam's never stocked them. The one about an hour away used to but discontinued them months ago. Never had the opportunity to try them.
Faith Vending Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Yep, the Sam's here don't sell em anymore and I can't seem to either. I have a lot in stock in case someone puts a quarter in the wrong selection.
markvend Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 Like I say, its not a great loss to me. I'm retrying more SKITTLES as they have recently added vitamin C to their mix. I immediately noticed a turbocharged fruit taste which I really liked. I think this might help sales. Skittles had drifted off in sales for me the last three years. Still doing great with Reeses and the low-profit M&M Peanuts. Thanks, Mark
Jax Snacks Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 We have 6 Sam Club stores here. Only 1 now carries Runts, Hot Tomales and Boston Baked Beans (yuk). I stopped vending those products years ago since they are either duds or very inconsistent. A few stores still do not carry Reeses Pieces. Switching to Skittles from Runts is a good idea. You can give a small amount of Skittles (12 pieces) to improve the margin since it is mostly kids that buy them. They are also more consistent than Runts in locations that have kids. My guess is that Runts, Hot Tomales and BBB will eventually be eliminated at all stores - more trouble for those 8-select beasts! Jax
