Faith Vending Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Ok, I have a deal and part of the deal is for me to get rid of this enormous Wizard Spiral. A sledgehammer would be best but would really make a mess in the guys business. This thing is 8' tall and no way going through the door; hundreds of rotten gumballs inside this beast. My question has anyone dismantled something like this? I do not have a picture and not sure where to start. The globe is huge. Thanks. Jim

Faith Vending Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 Shawn: Thanks, I can't get trough on that number.
lurtsman Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Shawn is a good person to talk to about this. He's a good guy and is well versed in dealing with machines. I hope you can figure out how to get it out, and if it doesn't get claimed, I hope you can use it yourself.
Faith Vending Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 Thanks lurts, I think the machine is not repairable and is just too BIG:shock:
nam Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 If the machine is truly a Wizard brand machine why not call Wizard and ask them how to get it apart? Their number is 480-497-4364 don't have their 800 number in my cell phone book. I have never really looked at one of those huge machines but would guess they are made like a normal Spiral except larger. I think you'll need to open the coin door at the bottom of the machine. Look inside to the center of the machine and you'll probably see as threaded rod coming down vertically from the globe to the bottom. This rod will more than likely come through a square tube going horizontal at the bottom of the machine and a nut will be just beneath this square tube. Remove this nut and this would allow the big globe and rod to be lifted up and top cap on the machine to come off. From this point the globe should be able to be removed and taken apart into two pieces. The biggest issue will be not having a key will require drilling out the lock on the bottom coin door to get to the nut on the bottom of the threaded rod. If it's a good location it would probably be worth it to drill out the lock and haul it off. If the machine still looks good they are pretty simple machines and more than likely if anything is wrong other than a jam it will still work and maybe even allow you to place this again or sell it on craiglist. It may be a bonus for you! Turn some lemons into lemon aid. nam
Faith Vending Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 Nam, you are a treasure trove of vending info!! Wizard will call me Monday and hopefully get this thing torn down. The owner has the key and just wants it gone. Thanks for the tips Nam. There are some ripped tubes on the inside and the thing is a mess. My main concern is keeping all the gumballs from spilling all over the place. They are all faded and gross looking. Jim
