I am cleaning up some used machines I bought. I had to clean up the "goo" / stickers from the previous charity stickers. I tested some "Goo Gone" on the back of one of the machines and it ruined the finish where I tested it (not completely but you could see it had been there.)

(The machines are plastic, plastic body) and I tried some Isopropyl "rubbing" alcohol and it worked fine. It took the sticker "goo" right off and it didn't mess up the finish on the plastic. I just thought I'd pass along the tip.

I don't know if this tip has been mentioned anywhere else on hte forum but I just figured it might be useful.

I've found this also. Goo Gone will fog older Northwestern plastic globes. I've got a varity of solvents to try and find the one that will remove the residue without damaging the machine, Simple Green, Goo Gone, Crud Cutter, nail polish remover, alcohol, etc... . Novus 2 will polish out light scratches and fogging or at least make them much less noticeable, Novus 1 is a great cleaner/polisher, it leaves no residue and shines like new. They're not cheap but in my opinion worth it.

A heat gun sometimes works well on stickers or you can run a globe or a body through the dishwasher and pull it out while its still hot and wet  and scrape some stickers off with your fingernail.

Novus products are great. I use them all the time when restoring pinball machines and it is the best.

It is expensive, but a little bit goes a long way.

Given that the idea with goo removing products is to use an oily base, has anyone attempted peanut butter? That's what I'm planning to try tonight on some residue that refused me for 10 minutes with soap and water.

I normally get my from pinball supply houses but I see Amazon sells it at a good price for Novus 1, 2 and 3. 19.95. Definitely worth checking it out.
