dperry Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Ok, it's been more like 7 months since Hurrican Ike stormed through Houston. I had one location that was closed for repairs all this time. It was that hole-in-the-wall barber shop I may have told you about. His little shop had some roof damage and so the rain got into his shop big-time. I went to service the place about a month after the hurricane. I can see that the place is damaged and boarded up. I can look inside the window and see my machine among the debris. I thought I had lost another machine, but I wasn't too upset about it since it was an XYZ and not one of my nice Oaks. Anyways, he calls me up and says he's open for business again. I didn't have a spare machine to swap so I went there with the intention of cleaning out the old one and giving it new product. I can tell you it was nasty. The gumballs were fused together. I had to take the whole thing apart. Luckily I brought some heavy-duty cleaner. Well, I finally got it presentable out there in the parking lot. The only real issue is that he didn't cover up the machine when he repainted the interior of his shop. It had some massive paint drip spots all over it. I did the best I could to clean those off too. He said he and his customers were looking forward to having the thing working again. I hope that's true. This was a so-so location as it was.
antoniocinisi Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I am glad you didnt lose your machine, and that you were able to get it working again.
lurtsman Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Great story. Turned out better than breaking in and reclaiming your machine
