groques
Hi, I'm a software developer and my parents run a small vending operation with a few machines for retirement income. They buy their inventory from wholesale stores like Costco, Sam's Club, and occasionally Wal-Mart. They keep all their receipts, and manually enter in each line item for inventory keeping purposes. This seems tedious and time-consuming and got me thinking there's got to be an easier way. I've thought of building an app where you can take a picture of the receipt with your smart phone and it'll automatically extract the prices for each line item, total, sub-total, tax, store name, date / time, and other key information. Then, you could export the data to a CSV file and import it into vending or accounting software. --- Do you all perform manual data entry from receipts for inventory keeping or tax purposes? Would you find such an app useful?
