kai1836 Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I have been at this about 7 months now, and while I have met with reasonable success locating I am tired of it and want to hire someone to do it for me. Would you run an ad in the paper or try to do a listing on craigslist? I am going to offer 30 per location and so much per mile for travel. How does this sound? I figure a college student might take me up on it. If there are some good tips on how to do this I would appreciate them as I have never had an employee before. Even though this probably falls short of the definition of employee.......
kai1836 Posted April 30, 2009 Author Posted April 30, 2009 Kelly, Why would I want to install counters if I hire someone to locate for me?
nam Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 kai, I think the only thing wrong with your idea is the mileage allowance. This could easily be abused and isn't the normal way of paying a locator. Locating is normally done on a straight commission basis and the locator pays his own expenses. If they have no experience and can't locate enough machines to cover their overhead then they shouldn't be trying to locate machines. Don't pay anyone up front and don't pay any expenses. Make them agree to a 30 day trail period at which time you have the right to pull the machine and ask for a replacement location. Offer a reduced amount on multiple machines so the first one is $30 and second one is $20 as a decent locator will work the locations to add more machines. You should pay the locator even if you add another machine if it is a location he set up. Just a lower amount on additional machines. Pay when the machines are located, not when you're given the info from the locator. Sometimes when you go to install the wife, partner or whoever will say no deal! I wasn't paid until the machines were installed and if they didn't make money I had to replace them. You really have to be careful as so many locators will only be interested in getting locations fast and easy so they get paid fast and leave you hung out to dry. Just be careful. nam
lurtsman Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 If you are paying 30 and dealing with the hassle of trying to train someone who might or might not be trustworthy, why not just hire Rob from kickstart? For the slight additional cost you know things will be done right. IMO, if you are going to pay that much, it might as well be done by a pro.
kai1836 Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 Aside from exact vend amounts, is there any difference between hiring an employee for bulk and full-line? I guess the full line employee could only steal from you for so long.......? How do operators with full line employees work?
